Was looking around for a EQ2 mount guide when I came up with this brilliant idea. What mount do you think is the coolest in any mmo?
Here is my choice. A Dire Bear from Everquest 2

I'd say EQ2 with UO running a close second due to the versatility of the mounts.

Vanguard had some cool mounts.

Perhaps it's me, but AoC mounts were something I loved about the game

They are stealable, killable, and you can do mouted combat. Both with the mouth itself and with your weapons! You can charge down enemys with a nice charge and chop heads of....if that isnt the coolest mount..then i dont know what?
of course someone says WoW, i swear Wow is the only MMO some of you have played.
having said that i would say EQ2 has some of the coolest mounts i have ever seen.
Hands down, most of the pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies mounts. My favorites were the Bantha and the towering Savage Humbaba. I'll never forget getting incapped crossing Tatooine and discovering when I got back from cloning that my Bantha had hunted down my attackers and killed them. If I'd had even a clue that they were going to destroy the game as I knew it, I'd have kept more screenshots. They don't make them like that anymore.

Mortal Online does all this AND mounts are NOT pocketable. Mounts have stamina. Mounts have stats for speed/perhaps others. Mounts are tamable. Mounts will be breedable and equipable before launch.
The one fault of Mortal mounts is that they can not swim or touch water currntly.

I'm gonna toss my vote in for Fallen Earth. They have cars... WITH GUNS!

Ill agree with EQ, i mean, I know WoW has probably the biggest quantity of mounts, although many are just colour changes.
But really, look at that Alar Phoenix's wings, horrid graphics full of straight angles. Completely outdated.
EQ mounts are cool and still maintain a great graphical aspect and quality
That was kind of a low-blow don't you think? Though WoW mounts may have not been innovative, some of the models and ideas were neat. My favorite is the mechanical ostriches.
Returning to this thread; my personal favorite were the bears in Carpe Diem, those were cool mounts.

lineage 2 had some alright mounts also.

Why, you ask?
Because when you dismount your mounts, THEY DON'T VANISH. they stay RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT THEM until you come back for them. Realistically. Even if you log out, the horse/vehicle stays RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT IT.
They're not a "magic spell" that you have to click on a pretty little colored cube on a "hotbar" to activate every time.
WoW has some gorgeous mounts, and well done flying mounts, however I personally prefer mounts you can attack from, so AoC gets my vote
some of the Vanguard mounts where freaken epic.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

You're mistaken. Mounts in Mortal cannot attack. It's true that you can attack from them or run people down (similar) but running them down does no damage. Still they're capable mounts. Although they're definitely not the coolest mounts around (yet) since they're only the basic horses at this stage.
CujoSWAoA, Mortal mounts are also realistic in that they stay where you dismount them, or roam around and graze if you tell them to. Also, they can be stolen or transferred to other characters.

Mounts in Mortal WILL ATTACK, but only if your a animal trainer and have the skills to do so. You can only instruct an animal when not mounted. I definately have had my horse charge for attacking on its own, but I have had bugs in recent patches since it was introduced. Also, I feel even at a "basic" horse stage this is the optimal route to take vs the majority and their simple ideals of pictures of harleys and helicopters.
I really dislike the "mainstream" forced into fantasy and if you feel that is the "key", I pretty much dont want to be part of your vision, nor will I place my money with your ideas. I am not alone. I should add that I am not against vision... even beyond UO, but pretty visuals will certainly NOT make me enjoy a game more than the actual gameplay and potential in itself to do things. If you give me a fun box to ride around on in a MMO setting, I will be interested.
Hands down age of conan, wow also has some bad ass mounts. As for vanguard, some looked cool but ye it wasnt something extra ordinary for me.
I will have to go with WOW. Not that their mounts are the best looking ones but they are the rewards from your efforts.
Whether you do quests to get your paladin horse, snow tiger, nether rays or farm enough gold to buy the epic flyers you don't just buy them, you earn them.
I am just going to add that sometimes they are rewards, and other times the mounts are just money sinks. Only a few mounts I would consider rewards for achievements, and others are just a matter of getting a lucky drop. Plus, the special pally mount and warlock mount can just be bought from skill trainer for very cheap. Sad that Bliz keeps making things easier like that. I really feel that those mounts still should be earned.
