I was reviewing it as a game soon ready to be released, and not comparing it to other MMOs. I still don't like AoC, and I still didn't like the beta from them. Anyway. I don't even get the priviledges to report a bug in their forums.
Maybe in the end I have too high expectations for a MMO gameplay wise, but then again. How can you even test a dead game, which is soon to be released (if I didn't get that wrong)? All the way through it just reaks of unproffesionality, and that is not a statement from someone who is inside the gaming industry, but from the point of someone who has played many games, the view of a consumer.
The hype is just too high. I'll of course wait to see if the release is anything more. And possibly rereview it again in one year.

Problem is you are looking at the beta from the perspective of a consumer when you should be looking at the beta experience from the perspective of a tester. If there is any hype its due to people expecting more than they were promised. The devs have made a conscious effort to not create any hype. They stated what the beta was going to be like before hand and people still log in expecting it to be a demo of what the game will be like after release. We are testing the technical workings of the systems.

As beta testers whenever we see bugs and glitches were supposed to report them. People coming to these forums because they saw a bug, but diddnt report it shouldnt have logged into the beta in the first place. If you bought a copy of the game then you have to link your game account with the forum account to post bugs, that is no different than any other beta I have ever been in.

How can you call the game dead? it's in beta and character and map whipes only gives you a max of 2 weeks, recently 1 month of testing time before you have to make a new character. Most of the people who expected to log into beta and just have a bunch of free play time got the point early that if they dont want to test then they should wait for release to play.

Also everyone knows that there is supposed to be a huge patch next thursday and that there characters will most likely be whiped again. Only people who login after the first few days fo a new patch are people who are looking for bugs, xxploits and reporting graphical errors.

They dont ahve a release date yet. They predicted that they would release in Q4. We are aproaching the end of Q4 and if the need to postpone they will, many games do. If they dont need to postpone then we will get a release date when they give it to us.

I highly doubt you speak from your heart. As this game will move forward, with, or without you and is doing so at a surprising rate. But, the fact that you question StarVault's competence, in lue of what they have accomplished thus far, is highly suspicious and sheds light on your motive and troll posting.

You do your best to lie to people here within the MMORPG.com community, but StarVault keeps proving you wrong and impressing the MMORPG community with their pace and talent. Which trounces your notion, that they are clueless and have no expertise.

I think YOU keep making things up and hating on this game, because you personally are unable to grasp what a sandbox style of gameplay is all about. Mortal Online scares you..! I mean, why else would you constantly log on here and repeatedly trash this game?

It can't still be because your ACCOUNT GOT BANNED, in connection with those hilarious YouTube videos posted by an immature and highly ignorant reviwer...  & you are still butt-hurt, could it?

This game is terrible and that video did a good job showing that. Basically nothing in this game is well done, not the gfx, animations, sound, ui, combat, magic. Nothing.

It is yet another huge FFA PvP sandbox dissapointment. Why cant a proper dev team create that type of game? All we get is a bunch of amateurs and dreamers...

Bugs are giant raid bosses in World of Warcraft like this one:

They require either 10 (or, preferably, 25) people to kill, and the fights tend to be pretty difficult. Puns such as, "That's one big bug! Where's my can of RAID!?" can be made because groups of 10 (or 25) people are called raids.

Signus, you are so full of  /fail...

As EVERYONE knows this game is moving along rather quickly and being developed properly. This game has only been in development for a short peroid of time and is moving more quickly than any MMORPG that I have beta tested over the last 13 years.

You opinion means nothing, because it's all vitriol and not based on facts, but your own emotions...  Mortal Online has never had a release date and only 5 months ago, (before beta began) the developers had said they would like to release Mortal Online before the new year.

What an incredible goal to set for yourself... don't you think? There still is no release date, but they are still aiming for around new years... does it really matter if StarVault chooses to release the game in January?

But what I do find facinating is your hatred for this game and all the little lies you spew in all your posts. It seems you know very little of what you speak and are just a child babbling.

Here: it's only beta footage, but will probably just fuel your anger more.

Wow, I've seen some fanboys and then there are FANBOYS. I have never once said I hated MO, in fact in almost all my posts I state that I'd love to see it release.

I just don't condone companies making you buy a full copy of the game in order to get into beta test. And saying this game never had a release date is pure falsehood, they've had many, and pushed them all back. I remember when it was supposed to launch Winter 09. Now Winter 10?

Well well...  SignusM would love to see Mortal Online release!

Yet, you bash the game at every oppertunity? Honestly, do you think this community will buy into your renwed faith in StarVault? Or, simply see it as yet another attemp on your part, as some lip-service?

Secondly, if you personally feel so strongly about spedning money on a product before it's released, then don't! In addition to that, if you are somewhat upset that you cannot beta test without first having pre-paid... then say so and move along. Why constantly drag your abrasive posts out all over these forums?

Thirdly, you are wrong! There has NEVER been a release date as this game has bearly been in development for 2 years and when StarVault was asked 5 months ago when they plan on releasing the game, they gave a rough estimate. More recently when asked again, the lead Dev said they are still guning for the end of year..  but if neccesasary they will extend beta and the bug tracking further.

December or January... it really doesn't matter now, does it?

Of which year and which decade? It sure as hell won't be this Dec or Jan unless they want to crash and burn worse then any other game ever.

Currently Deceit-n-Lie was a better game and more polished then this turd is. Keep singing the kool-aid sycophantic songs Phelcher and others.....time will tell like it always does.

BTW, the game IS butt ugly, laggy, full of holes, missing most all content, and really not much to do except run around an empty world and look at the sky.

Prove us doubters wrong, make your own videos showing the wonderful interface, gameplay, large group battles, lack of lag, wonderful animations, superb crafting, etc, etc, etc...... Yeah right, not a chance. Like all fawnbois, you are all talk and no action.

Monthly fee. The money they got for beta is running out so now they need additional finances to continue developing the game which, for all practical purposes, is still at late alpha/early beta.

Setting aside all the praise I've given the game for its setting—which I love to no end even without any lore to read—I think that Mortal Online is also strong in its design more mechanically: its greatest virtues being in what it lacks, I think. That is to say that it does away with (or reduces) things that I've grumbled about for ages: world maps, radar, levels, chat channels, private messaging, endless running....

Of course, it also introduces things I've generally considered missing, like the acknowledgment that very few people, even in a medieval or pseudomedieval setting, are of one 'race' by any definition.

What's bad is what one would expect of an ambitious project from a small team with a small budget: bugs, glitches and overall lack of 'polish.' Land animals that float a hundred feet in the air, some that rocket into the air to never be seen again, animations that do or don't play at their own discretion, inventory response delays, few and incomplete animations—that kind of thing. Not very important to my enjoyment, but I know the majority's priorities, and it is definitely enough to flop it hard (Shadowbane hard) if it releases before most of these issues (and more that I'm sure I neglected to mention) are addressed.

If StarVault doesn't have the budget to do so and must release soon, it's an enormous shame. This could be to fantasy what EVE has been to sci-fi.

    Really..?

Interesting, & what do you base that prediction on. What inside knowledge or previous experiences do you draw upon to make such conclusions..? Or was all of that just wishful thinking on your part..? Sounds to me, like you are hoping that^^ was the case, because no honest beta tester would post such things, because they would be fibbing..

Perhaps I will make a video..  but until I do, have fun watching THESE...   (not bad for a game still in beta)

Mortal will shatter what people think of as MMORPGS... someday. I like other fans of the games potential hope that they can simply solve the lag and stability issues before launch. A goal they are well on their way towards based on the last several patches. The server rarely crashes now, they simply have to solve the monster lag spikes that occur regularly near towns.

As a veteran of many MMO beta's I am confident that the guys over at SV know very well how games like this can sink or swim at launch. Most of my "faith" in SV comes from discussions with them in IRC that assure me they love this game more than any of the fanboys. This devotion to a project will most certainly pay off for those of us awaiting a true fantasy sandbox that will someday rival Eve.

Here's my list of things I've waited years for currently coming down the pipe in Mortal:
(at least 7 of these are already in the game, most will be in by launch)

    1) ALL 1st person camera makes it more fun
    2) Everything in the world craft-able by players.
    3) Player housing and other world structures like bridges/walls.
    4) Day/Night and Weather including a heat system ie. plate in desert = bad.
    5) Mounted combat and no pocket mounts.
    6) No levels, yet thousands of skills to choose from
    7) Vast areas to explore including underworlds and detailed ruins
    8) Full stealing and loot. You can take anything from anyone.
    9) Player built nations with cities and NPCs.
    10) Full frontal nudity.

Say what they will (the haters that is) this game may not be ready to launch, but it will grow exponentially faster when it does. I will take this game in any state and gladly play and pay to make Mortal Online what it is destined to be. If you've dreamed of a truly epic sandbox fantasy MMO Mortal Online is your only hope. Support SV, pre-order the game and come help test.

So did Heinrick provide you with that wonderfully written advertising copy?

How much shill pay did you receive or do you work for SV?

That write up reeks of advertising crap put out to spin and hype a product....and anyone with any experience in this genre can see right thru your transparent facade.
