There are quite a few mobs beside goblins to take early one : hivekin, skelletons, trolls, kobolds, the easier spiders, lowish zombie, orc protectors, akathars, even more cause you said you were working in team of 2 -3. Even medium mobs should be not big of a challenge for your team, your team should be able to attack mercian camps, centaurs, malaut etc.
Which mobs you tried on ?
Then how you was prepared for the fights ? fully armor (any slot occupied by armor piece) ? food, potions, equipped with some support spells like channeling spells ? Tried different tactics, like terrain advantage, focus fire, retreat to heal up and single out that one harder mob ?
If its the PvP that makes you quit , how can you expect to compete with a just 3 weeks char ?
Did you know: a mounted newb with medium skills in one-hander can actually waste a vet on foot damage wise right now. If the vet don't react accordengly then he will propably beat him even.

Well not sure what game you're playing but I finished off 2 title quests over the last week, killed centaurs and centaur chieftans solo. Had to get some help on the troll lords as they were difficult due to terrain and lack of cover, but with two of us one to draw fire (me) and shoot a bow and the other attacking melee we went through them no problems. Killed of some lizard men too and did 100's of skeletons today to get my greataxe to 75 and get mastery.
I've been playing only a little over a month and I can easily take down more than Goblins solo, not sure about higher stuff as it does depend mostly on wether there is cover or not and tactics. If after 2 weeks and the recent fixes you can't handle goblins solo then maybe you need to move on, but I promise you it isn't because AV suck ...

I agree with you 100%
As for the OP I am not sure what you are doing but there is far more then one or two types of mobs you can kill. I can think of 4-5 that noobies can take on, while some of them might require more then just standing there toe to toe with the mob swinging at it.
If you have a group of two or three there is little to no reasion why you can not take on medium level mobs (the exception being elementals as you will need some specialized equipment for them).
Here is a map that has most of the spawns listed from easy, medium, hard and where they are located.
But overall it just sounds like Darkfall is not the game for you. Goblins are by far the easiest mobs in the game. You should be able to clear a camp of them without getting below half health. If you can't do that then you need to move on. (And yes thats with a fresh made character and nothing more then the loot that the goblins drop.) Goblins alone you can make 1k a hour with them. Heck I made 1.4k a hour farming them with a fresh made character.
Move onto Goblin Fighters, Shamans, and Lords and you can make 3k a hour easy with the only thing requireing a little work is the Goblin Lords.
Other easy mobs are Spiders, Skeletons (4 different types of these), Brownies, Mercians, Snakes, Flying Snakes, Sandcraps, Zombies, Salamanders, and if you are good at using buildings, trees ect you can take on Trolls as a noob with archery.
And them are just the easy mobs listed. So I can't see how you are having a lack of varity in mobs to kill. That is not bad considering them are easy solo mobs and the make up like 30-40% of the game worlds spawns.
Just to follow up on my own thread. I ended my DF subscription, I find the lack of worth while mobs to kill for a newblet game breaking. I always run the game in a group, at the least two, normally three of us though. We are unable to kill any mobs besides the lowest of the low, which drop horrid items ... meaning if we are leveling Elementals.. we go broke. The game has a ton of potential, it really does ... but its execution is poor currently. Aventurine offers a sandbox world, then tells the players " Go, Explore , Kill , Do whatever you want". The problem with that is as a new player you must spend month(s) grinding the same mob for little to no rewards. When you finish those month(s) you will be able to compete... Wait, the only people you can compete with are Newbs too. Developed characters are still far beyond your stat levels. I am/was decent at PvP.. I can figure 8 like the best, use my conversions whilst they retreat, use archery at range and even land a debuff or two ... so its not a "skill" thing ; its the extreme gap between new players and those allready at higher development. I don't mind people who have been playing for 6 months + having an edge ... but I hear to often " Its the only game as a newb you can kill a vet!!!!" Which is BS, because anyone with a developed character allready knows how to F8 etc etc just like you do .. therefor their stats win. I won't grind for months in the hopes of ultimately competeing in PvP with the long-terms, its not what I was advertised and its not a good retainer for new players. DF is everything it said it wouldn't be ..... so Its just not the game for me. The game holds its players to a path ( if they want to compete) WAY MORE than a themepark does.... I actually can't think of a MMO where newbs have to kill the same mob for months before they can progress. Wait... L2.
Darth - Signus : Spin it all you want, Sigmus you arn't playing the game so please stop commenting on it. Darth -- I never said I wanted to kill the hardest mob in the game solo, 5 hours into the game. I said I wanted to have a fighting chance at more than Goblins if I use my head, two weeks into the game.
Noobit -- Thanks for the tips, but No. I did not join a game focused on PVP to sit and craft, its never been my thing.. and as with EvE if i have to be afk to be playing the game ( Harvesting/Mining/Cutting/Swimming) then why am I playing it? I want to grind a large variety of mobs, gain some interesting drops/rewards, go out and pvp to test what I've gained and lose it all.. every day. /shrug
I think you have the wrong conseption about pvp. A fresh made character can compete in pvp. If you join a good guild you can get a full set of plate and most of the time you will rip right through people in pvp. Character Skills play somewhat of a point in pvp but they only makeup like 30-40% of that. If you are good at pvp then there is nothing stopping you from killing someone else. Just because they have 100 in a skill doesn't mean they are unkillable. Most people will tell you stopping around the 50-75 point in a skill is the best thing to do because beyond that the benefits really are not that great.
My suggestion would be find a good guild and get some decient gear and you will have no problem killing any easy level mob and even a fair amount of medium level mobs. In pvp the gear is going to help you a fair amount depending on how you play. Full plate and a decient two hander melee weapon will make most other players run in pvp. Go for a Rank 60 or above quality weapon (You can generally get them for around 2k-3k with enchants) and a full set of plate for around 1k-2k. Thats nothing more then 4-5 hours of farming goblins solo and you are set there.
I've been playing off and on for a month now without a clan. I can easily handle goblins and kobolds. I can also kill trolls, gnolls and skeletons. I haven't tried hivekins, spiders, zombies or anything harder than them yet. The only thing that has consistently kicked my ass without it even being close were those ninja bears from a couple nights ago, so I avoid that area until I get better.
I've never been in a group, I've always soloed it so far. I do plan on joining a clan though soon.
I'm not held to any path. If I don't feel like farming mobs, then I go harvest or explore or craft or PvP.

Bears are tough, they have decent HP, are fast and hit for A LOT in melee range. With rank 30 bow and less then 50 archery I could handle with ease only one spawn of them in Mirendil, it is close to my clan city and only ONE bear spawns there.

Think it best you move on as well. If you cant even kill low lvl mobs in a group you guys must suck bit time. Tab target games will be fine for you.
Wow ... Ethier you folks have SEVERE Reading comphrension problems, or are just the most rabid fanboi's around.
Really though , I'll go back and reread some of my earlier posts... you can't all be THAT horrid at reading comphrension, perhaps I implied Goblins were to hard.. *rolls eyes*
I never said I couldn't kill Goblins, or the other easy mobs I listed. I stated that in order to progress my skills I am required to kill 4-5 mobs for month(s). FOUR to FIVE EASY Mobs -- straight grinding, the problem is the easy mob drops are HORRID, and boring. Equip a rank 40-65 and they die in a few hits.. not much skilling up or rewards there. Magic? Besides casting Rend ( which I've done ) I burn threw more reagents killing easy mobs than I can possibly gain back. Go try and kill Bonecrews, Troll Lords, Ravens, Hags, Crypt Guards, lesser elementals, Great Belows, Hill Giants, Oaklords, etc etc with a two week old character.
You think your two week old character can go kill Medium mobs, reliably and for a profit? You can't ... hence the thread, hence me leaving. I don't play a pvp game to grind on the same 4-5 mobs for weeks and weeks.... thats NOT PVP. Getting ganked whilst killing those easy mobs, is also NOT PvP.
My point was -- PvE shouldn't be where I spend my time and devote my strategies ... it should be PvP. The game has turned from that direction, so.. oh well, won't play it.
Then one thing I will say , DF in game really doesn't live up to the fanboism and immaturity that a majority of Mmorpg posters lead people to believe it has.
Well if cant even kill medium lvl mobs in a group you must all suck. As I stated dont think Darkfall is for you but thanks for trying. Good luck in finding your next mmo.

I don't know what to tell you then. As I am still within the two week period of my character. All the mobs I listed above I have killed, that is exactly why I listed them, because I KNOW for a FACT that a two week or younger character can indeed kill them. Nowhere did I list elemental mobs as something you can kill with a two week or younger character. Maybe you should re-read what I posted because it seems you have a several lack of reading comprehension or something going on.
As has been stated by many people here maybe this just isn't the game for you. It seems like you lack the skill and patiance for a game like Darkfall.
And if it requires you several months to make it to a point where you can fight mobs harder then easy then you and your group really have some serious problems and maybe should go back to the point click and go afk type fighting mmo games.
I tried to keep it constructive and offer your suggestions that I know work because I myself am new to Darkfall and very much considered a new player to the game. I am only offering you what I know because its what I can do with my new character (that is younger then your character). But instead you just spew out bad information and think everyone that has tried to help you has some type of problem or something ageanst you.
Originally posted by Redemp Yeah, I used Sinister alot... actually thats what started the frustration. The day I started using it, and finding out that my buddies and I couldn't kill 9/10 mobs on it , is the day we all got over the honeymoon.
You are doing it wrong then.
This is not WoW style combat where you run up to the mob while the other one a mere ten paces away stands oblivious to you hammering on their buddy. If they can see you they will attack. So use cover, pull and kite the mob to your location, use the trees, boulders ruins, stay out of sight to the rest of the mobs. Use some common sense.
There are plenty of mobs that you can easily kill as a newbieif you are careful. These same mobs can easily take you down if you are foolish.
That's one thing I really like about this game. Even low level fights are actually interesting.

Maybe you're the one with reading comprehension problems. Three separate times in your post you mention a SINGLE mob: goblins. Don't backpedal and make it out like you said otherwise.
We all listed more mobs you could be working on, gave you tips, pointers, links, etc and you keep pissing on all of it because we're not agreeing with you.
I'm sorry your time in DF wasn't a pleasant one, but you're simply not correct in saying you have to grind a tiny handful of mobs to be any good. Especially as a small group.
Current: None Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
I know for a fact that you can kill more difficult enemies if you are careful and patient. I already killed Dire Zombies, Cave Bears and 1 Earth Elemental, using my 4-day-old character.
Might not be easy, but the challenge is fun and that's why we play games, right?
I really do not understand it...you have the map, friends and so on and you keep saying you can not kill anything? this game is hard often times, which is a good thing but it also provides a means to tackle even a hard situation.
After two weeks if you played a good amount and not super casual and have friends even, there should be plenty of mobs for you to kill. However...2 weeks...is...really new to a game and by no means should you be able to simply kill whatever you want, which I think and hope would be common knowledge...
Anyways I dunno what to say, between harvesting, crafting, title quests, killing a variety of mobs, pvp, goofing off with guildies and conducting trades, I find myself with plenty of options no matter my mood.
If the game is to hard or to different for you then simply move on but do not make a huge thread blaming the game for your own short comings, more when people have tried to help you and you seem to be oblivious to it.
In the end though I question if MMORPGs are your type of game because they all use the method of killing mobs to advance in some way.
Here is a question. Why is he focused on PvE instead of PvP in a PvP game?
I see plenty of people posting they joined NEW and are almost right away having a blast pvping.
Because PVE is needed to fund your PVP adventures and raise stats/skills more efficiently. Also, PVE helps people understand important game mechanics that will eventually benefit them if PVP.
PVE is very important to all games, no matter their focus. Aventurine eventually realized that, too, and made changes to this end.

There are plenty of mobs that you can easily kill as a newbie if you are careful.
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
Aion...kill Mau...kill pigs...beatles...new mau....kobolds....mau...
WoW kill small animals, kill pig people, kill meaner animals, kill meaner pig people, kill human badits
AoC kill human pirates, kill picts, kill human cultists, kill picts, kill wolves
Darkfall kill goblins, kill kobolds, kill trolls, kill skeletons, kill zombies
And so on with a few new mob types as you progress and some of the same but stronger, that is mmo pve in a nut shell.
Perhaps you would be better off with strictly a pvp game and play FPS? or RTS? or MOBA? Many options out there.
