There a lot of reviews available on the internet to read, i suggest you google them or simply go to the official forums to read some.

The game doesn't really exist yet... theres barely anything in-game so its gonna be a few years before the game is even playable.

    Go to Darkfall.

Atm no. Gfx are poor and buggy, sound is almost non existant, severe lack of content, combat is not varied enough (basically hack and slash type). I would give the game atleast 6 months before, maybe, becoming good enough to play.

In it's current state Yamota it will be dead in 6 months.

Of course when you have a company run by a 20 something CEO with no business experience living off of daddies money what do you expect? A quality product? LOL

    I challenge that^^ statement!

How are the graphix poor..? What berometer are you using? I have been gaming since PONG, I have not seen one open-world, seemless MMORPG with better graphics. Name one!

Secondly, "sound is almost non-existant"..? lulz... sound is EVERWHERE..  Have a listen..!  (the whole video plz)

Thirdly, "combat is not varied enough"..?   Here... is this different?

You nay-sayers really need to give it a break, the game is still in BETA and each additional week, makes your points more moot! StarVault is on top of their game and a very competent group. You'd be hard pressed to find a development team that has done more, with such little, so quickly..!

Anyone remember how long Aventurine was developing Darkfall..? Anyone know how long Mortal Online been in development..?  lulz..

Mo has been in development since 2003, AV worked on darkfall since 2001 but has made their own engine unlike sv who bought a UE3 license.

Been in combat beta of MO and played every now and then when new patches got released. And i must say all those patches havent even impressed me slightly. The devs boosted how fucking great the mounted patch would be, and all it was is one big dissapointement. Hopefully the big patch on thursday is truely big and doesnt create bugs wich will take them 6months to fix like some bugs we still have.

And both archery and magic need a complete revamp if you ask me, actualy the whole combat system and movements need a complete revamp. Only thing decent are 2handed weapons and even those are far from perfect.  The only thing MO has succeded good in is adding small realistic stuff like bridges and torches, the rest is just so flawed it aint even funny. I just hope they delay the game for a month or 2atleast.

As for the OP if you wanna support SV just buy the game and hope it gets improved fast. If you dont feel like risking the money you would be better of buying DF and playing that for a while or some other game.

Well, its not close to release if that's what you're asking. It's currently in beta, though the beta resembles an alpha.

Oh and watch out for Phelcher, he is the most rabbid fanboy I have ever met, anything he says, take with a whole shaker full of salt.

The game has promise though, it'll just take some time. The devs have the right idea.

One thing I suggest, do NOT buy the game now. (yes, you have to BUY THE GAME to take part in beta) its dirty business practice, and should not be encouraged. Unless you really wanna "support" these guys. Wait for release, if it ever comes.

The thing is, people have short memories and even shorter attention spans.

I remember hearing from the horse's mouth (Henrik) that they were waiting on Epic Games to release some technology, because everything they had was "ready to go in" and that Epic was their holdup. In fact, Epic has no part in the development of this game, they are not a "partner" (check Epic's site), they are simply a licensee of the game engine. It was said that "after LOD goes in, every other system will go right in too", because the assertion was that everything was built, all the systems were ready to roll, and the only thing that was holding them up was Epic and the Massive LOD system.

Massive LOD went in (supposedly) about a month ago. After that, what changed? Not a whole lot. No AI. No new mobs. No new lands. No Tindrem. No thieving. No skills. No secondary skills. No magic changes. You know -- all the systems they basically said they had 'done'.

It was telling to me to read Emil's post about how he was developing the thieving system and going to implement it. It tells me everything I need to know -- that they are developing the game and putting it into the production build as quickly as possible so they can launch. No system testing, no unit testing, just play with it, and throw it in, as horribly broken as it may be. Now people here are fine with it and that's great for them -- I am not going to argue whether they like the taste of crap in their mouths, but people on the sidelines should know that none of the systems are developed and all being done on the fly, and before they plop down cash to play the game, just keep that in mind.

I am just going to take bets on how much stuff it BREAKS. It may add a lot, and I bet you money that the systems that are going in will be working horribly, poorly thought out, and poorly executed. That's kind of the problem though, but like I said -- if you enjoy the taste of crap in your mouth and tell me it's candy, it makes your point far less salient.

Watch out, phelcher is gonne come in here and call you a liar and say that its all being put in tomorrow, its all ready, just not turned on! and that there's NOTHING wrong with paying for beta.

Like I said -- I have MSN messages from Henrik saying exactly that stuff, that "everything is built" and they are "waiting for Epic".

Epic has nothing to do with Mortal Online other than being the game engine designer. They don't have a vested interest in SV, they only provide them technical support. And oddly enough, a game like Global Agenda (that uses the *same* technology) isn't putting up the front MO is, and saying they are waiting for Epic to do XYZ, because they have competent developers creating the game. I expect the game will release soon, and with the combat being as poor as it is -- won't last long.

At least Darkfall had seiging and mass warfare (even though it sucked) for launch, so it was something to keep players around for. MO has retarded animal taming and crafting with a bad combat system. Sure sounds like a winner. *sigh*

And people wonder why I pointed this stuff out months ago, that SV simply wasn't going to deliver what they all expected. Fanboys get deluded and defend the game, realists like me expect more because I you know -- paid for it -- and a lot of people just simply abandoned the game entirely.

    Go figure.

Well if that's the attitude you have, I can be sympathetic to you. Unfortunately for some of us, we expected the systems that are in now to work flawlessly, before they go and add more features that don't work right. Combat still sucks badly, so does the lag. And instead of fixing those, they are adding a bunch of new features.

As much as I loved the idea of this game, I really feel it's gonna flop due to a bad launch. And that's partly because of your attitude (and others like you), who say "I don't mind, I can wait". When they fail to retain the initial subscribers, you will be wishing you hummed a different tune and told them the same things I have said all along.

Well, you think combat sucks. I think the combat is the best ever done in any MMO, even thou it will be balanced up constantly. Not everyone like that realistic style.

Realistic style? It's basically counterstrike knife fighting part 2. It's item based -- so you need a good weapon to compete, then you get that uber weapon and all you do is circle around one another waiting for your swing timers to reset as you swoop in for a hit.

When they promised PvP like UO had, I was intrigued. UO had combos, reversals, combo breakers, defensive tactics, offensive tactics, group dynamics and more. MO has NONE OF THAT. The only thing you can say about "group dynamics" is when everybody screams on ventrilo, "Go get that guy OMGZ".

If you think MO's combat is good, then that's great. I expected a LOT more, and WOW takes more skill to play than MO does currently (isn't that sad). And if they launch thinking this system is 'great', I fully expect you to come back here and tell me I was right :p

lol best ever done in any MMO?  I guess MO is the MMO you've ever played then because I find it hard for anyone to say something that god damn retarded.  MO doesn't even have a single secondary skill and the only thing you can do is slash or thrust attack and block.  Wow ya thats totally next gen gaming right there!  Wielding your weapon makes you slow down to a crawl...this has to be the most fucking retarded feature I've ever seen added to an MMO as well as the fact that you have to stand still for like 3 seconds just to draw your weapon.

Seriously Diekfoo, put the crack pipe down.

I have played basically all MMO's on the market, since Everquest1 preluclin.MO have the most realistic melee in any MMO and involve lots of tactics and real skill and it is fun. But I do think that some people might like the WoW-smashing key style more.

Really we will not have to wait till Thursday for the patch, when we could be having the patch notes before then. Hopefully by Wednesday. Then we will truly see how big the patch is.
