Best MMO out to date '
No population
more people on this vanguard forum than actually play lol
All we got to do is prove to sony that there are people willing to play to get this game rolling again!...
maybe post in there forums.. i dunno i just wish this game would make a comeback.

SOE has no interest in spending money on games they didnt make. THey buy these games to get the player to buy the station pass so they will play the other games.

Honestly, buddy... I know where you're at. Check my post history, I've tried a lot of stuff for this game. Vanguard is my all time favorite MMO out there right now. I played it for a while, but the lack of support from SOE and the lack of players ruined it for me. There is literally no chance they will ever bring this game back to the forefront of the MMO world.
One thing to consider is that VG is in direct competition with EQ2. EQ2 is Sony's baby, and while it sounds like a "tinfoil hat" comment, I honestly believe they bought the game so no one else would fix it up and destroy EQ2's population. All we can do is hope that in the future a game like VG comes out and succeeds.
Its a sad truth, but VG isn't going anywhere. They probably won't shut it down anytime soon, but don't expect it to go anywhere. If you enjoy yourself, that is all that matters. I stopped playing BECAUSE of SOE's lack of support and the so few people actually playing.

Sorry to do this to you, but as there has been a topic like this thrown up every day lately, I feel as if I must.
The only way for the population to go up is if people play... but people don't want to play cause the population is to low.... how do you fix that??
All that want to play but don't because of the population should pick a date... then all start playing on that date.. mini launch day!

Well Seradon just got about 50 ++ more people on their server, the guild The Path Ahead just arrived, and we're luving it !
Not that it would be all that simple but i fyou had a community leader or more likely several i.e. some of the more established guilds to sign up and get it going a strong community is all it takes to keep a game alive, take a look at Horizons or what ever its name is now, that game just will not die granted its population is low but they aren't aiming for growth they are aiming to survive its also a good game it actualy has reall problems though pore rendering engine compatability issues with modern OS (fixed recently) and the fact that its anchent in MMO years.
Vanguard on the other hand is fairly young for a traditional MMO, is very well made though not perfect granted, I have no idea what its "active" subscriber base is like but with just a server full or so the game could be gold, it doesn't need 12mil active subscribers just 1 maybe 2 servers full which is within the relam of what the community could accomplish if only we had a few community leaders that would like to take the ball and run with. Personaly I would love to but im not an established GM and have no more voice in the player base than you, without established guilds to form the foundation of the games community it would be for not . . . not that I know the state of the games current community have only played trial a few times (as guilty as the rest for not playing)
I will say that I do plan on subing to VG rather or not its population ever comes up the game is just fun to play which is more than I can say for most of the MMOs I have played recently and the monthy sub is still cheaper than keeping me in standalone RPGs lol I can go through $60+ worth of them in month easy.
Well, I keep a Vanguard account as I think games like this need to be supported. People say vote with their wallet so I vote with my wallet.
BTW, I am also on Seradon Path ahead so I will see you around I'm sure ; )

I agree it is one of the best MMo's out now, hope it picks up population.
Uhmm my 2cp worth - no one really likes to talk to any reps from SoE. The attitude of SoE reps tend to make you want to commit harakiri with a blunt butter knife while gouging your eyes out with a plastic spoon.
I have no doubt that Vanguard is a great game but with SoE standing in the shadows, it isn't going to go anywhere. If you haven't tried yet, then I can only suggest perhaps posting an open letter on their boards and getting people to sign up a petition for a multiple server merge. Based on personal past experience with SoE, I think I can safely guess what the outcome of this will be but it's always better to try than to do nothing I suppose (*Shrugs*). At least you can say that you tried.

the game has 90% raid now few % that join vanguard dont mind passing all content "breaking codes? ect, the rest come to the conclusion there just paying for a game just to watch the end game players play why they sit there with deserted areas a borked economy and nothing to do but watch end game players slobbering bout there epics. the players put on a pretty good front but unless a new player willing to buy plat off live gamer to pay for the end gamers players controlled economy there really nonthing goin on in vanguard
if soe would enforce there rules and show the mmo community that that vanguard a fair game worth the money to play and not a cheat to beat quest extranvaganza vanguard would have a lot better player base
I'm not sure what it is but I just can't get into this game. It has everything I want, free form flight, housing, dragons, fantasy creatures, quests, awesome environment graphics (character is a bit weak).
I buy a month at a time, several times but I just can't seem to last more than a week or so. KInda irritating.

One of the most, if not the most anticipated features, Alternate Advancement, scrapped for now. This is why people have given up on the game. So many people were looking forward to the AA's as means to continue playing a maxed out character.

I'm not a fan of AA'a but do understand the reasoning behind it and agree to it to a point that its a much needed system but right now what vanguard needs "lot more players = new subs and lot less catering to the few"i beat vanguard crowd" just the bug fixing alone will stop or slow down the need for the grind effect and actually bring back challenge for a player not cater to the skillz of a computer programmer,s not diddin computer programmers mind ya but one would be suprised of how many computer geeks out there wont have the grades to get a job but they got best avatar on the net.
I get a kick out of checking out these forums every few months and still finding these threads. You do realize that you're trying to get people to "come back" (or start) a ghost town of a game that's been out for 3 years, right?
There are some giants looming on the horizon: Star Wars, FFXIV, Star Trek, WoW's cataclysm, and so on. How on earth will a game like vanguard pull people away from any of those titles? Grats on fixing the perfomance and bugs, but come on already, games of this age have multiple expansions by now.
Nobody wants to get into a MMO that has the impression that it could get axed at any time. MMO players don't waste their time, they always want to move forward. Ok, I agree, Vanguard is a big beautiful world but it's not worth the time to go hug a tree. People want the shinies. People want to farm stuff, put it on auction and have it sell (supply and demand) People don't want to look for a group for hours and hours.
Vanguard has potential but who really cares any more? I'm sure the handful of you guys playing it do, but how do you convince the masses? What does Vanguard offer that is so wonderful and different that people will drop what their doing to join?
I guess these threads will continue until they finally pull the plug.
Been there done that. This game, by many accounts, is THE best PvE-based MMO available. But the SoE business decisions around how to manage the game and market the game have led the the declining population.
A key turning point was Pantheon of the Ancients... about the time of that release, online populations were pushing just over 1000 online for Xeth and Seradon. Very healthy and very active. But the decision was made to pull resources from Vanguard to the 'other mysterious SoE project' and they instituted a major grind to keep people occupied. Every since that point, populations have fallen to where they are now. Maybe 300-400 online on a good night for Seradon:(
Then Silius's announcement that some of the big content releases that everyone was looking forward to (HoSS, Stirhaad, AAs) were being shelved indefinitely. That was a kick in the face.
I've played Vanguard for almost 3 years. Love the game, it's truly epic. But after reading Silius's announcement I started looking prettty hard at other MMOs for our guild to consider moving to. Nothing holds a candle to Vanguard which really puts the 'core' MMO players in a bad place right now.
As it stands the game is in limbo, SOE wont spend the money unless they have enough subs and we wont get enough subs to encourage that as not enough people are willing to come play the game because SOE wont spend money on it. So its a sick circle.

I just canceled my account today. Not because of Population though, but because of the amount of bugs are in the game. There are more bugs in vanguard now then there were 1 year ago. Say what you want, but SOE have just ruined this game

please name calling?? wow just wow i paid to play a game not spend hours n hours to find a work around to buggy content to lay claim to fame, been playing since launch from sigil from every angle a player could think of but untill i re rolled a char and started playing as new player did i realize how neglected the game was and how bad the lower lvl players were bein farmed for gold .
pulling plug on end game content for a while and concentrate on bugs ect " BEST" thing ever happend to vanguard sorry to see lot end game players quit ,guilds leaving ect with recent announcement ...... but ya know some times its not all about "YOU" some times its about the "GAME"
I left EQ2 to try this game i have heard so many good things about.Well they were right .I love this type of open world game.The game is great but my big complaint even over some minor bugs is the population.I guess the bad launch has kept people away.I was not at launch so i dont know what it was like.All i know what it is now and its very fun game.I do wish more people would play.I beleave it is a better game then EQ2 but maybe not as polished.Ive read that some people think sony bought it just to kill it.Its to bad because if they put some money and time i think it would one of the top MMOs.

does that mean that WoW is the best MMO cuz it has the best numbers?
main reasons VG is unpopular:
a) most people won't give a game a 2nd chance
b) the servers are underpopulated for the huge landmasses VG has. a vicious circle thats hard to break
Vanguard is indeed the best traditional MMORPG out there now. i really hope they consolidate the servers soon to boost the population. if they could get it more populated the game would have a chance to grow to the point they would need to get more servers again.

1) Invest money into a large content/ polish expansion, sell it for £15, include full game.
2) merge exisiting vet servers to allow for the creation of a fresh start one.
3) Give one free month of play with the expansion purchase.
4) Promote it.
5) sit back and watch a stable population of 250,000 players settle into your game, more then happy to pay you a sub for the next 5 years.
I have played EQ, FFXI, EVE Online, little bit of D&D and I have to say Vanguard is the best PVE game out there. Great classes, graphics, story, gameplay, has the best end game raid dungeon I've ever played. If only they marketed the game and didn't take the few devs they had left and put them on EQ expansions and kiddie games like free realms.
