Eh...looks like BF: 2142 meets Halo. Don't know how they can call this an MMO. Mass chaos. No thanks.

There is no way I'm paying a subscription fee for a FPS game.  I have so many to choose from right now that are free and offer the same game play.  I still don't understand how they can call that an mmo...

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

I got to try the pvp aspect of Global Agenda at GameX in philly. I have to say the pvp side plays extremely well, while it still has all the regular qualities of an fps, there are some nice differences. Like one of the classes has a ton of turrets/health robot things at their disposal which sort of changes the usual kill as much as possible playstyle of an fps. I don't know how they will implement it with pve, but I'm excited to play more of it, and would gladly pay the monthly sub.

I've been in beta since the first invitations were sent and I have to say the game is worthy of a sub, but only for those interested in actual agency game play.

You can still get the game and play for free, I know you don't get access to agencies and a few other things. However for what it is (a FPS) it's worth at least buying.

And you don't have to. The game has a no subscription option.

And do you CARE what it is call if it is good? I dunno whether it is good or not but I am not going to judge a game by what label it is called.

I don't care for it, personally. It just doesn't tickle my fancy.

I'm probably going to wait for either a free trial (if they ever get one once it comes out) OR I'll (hopefully) get into a beta test. The game looks pretty damn nice, but I NEVER (well almost never) play a P2P game unless I get some sort of trial. I do plan on getting the game after I see how it does.

I will not be buying on day 1 because I want to see how good it is going to be. After the downfall of AOC and WAR I learned my lesson, Do Not Believe The Hype! I'll wait.

Its not that GA is a bad game, its just that im holding out for APB, it just seems more fun somehow, and i like the idea of measured responses etc in gameplay.

Will see what the game is like a month after release for once.

Really not interested in it myself.  Maybe at some point down the road if I'm really bored.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I updated the OP to show people that even if you do not sub you still get alot from the game.

  • J_HurryJ_Hurry Member UncommonPosts: 230

I'd buy it if it was a true MMOFPS, which it clearly isn't.

Maybe someone will eventually get it right.

I have not enjoyed a shooter in years because they have not really changed at all in years. Global Agenda looks to be the game that tries to do something different and it looks like they nailed it. If you pay the sub its just like a mmo. I dont see why its not.

"it looks like they nailed it."

I think the NDA is still in effect so I cannot  go into details about my time with GA.  I will say, I voted No on the poll, I will not be purchasing the  game.

    BAH! That's a downer...

How complete was the testing you did with it? Alpha? Early Beta? Bugger dude...this is the worst thing I've read all day. I'm glad you posted though...it's nice to have REAL feedback on it vs. speculation.

When you can, could you elaborate more on your likes/dislikes with both GA and your preferred style of games?! I think it's important to know YOUR tastes in general before writing off the game. If your typically an RPer, I think I could understand...but if you're a FPS fanatic or an avid PvPer, your opinion carries more weight.

im lol'ing at the amount of misinformation going around in this thread. read what i posted in the other thread. in short, GA will be the only good MMO coming out in 2010, and it will nullify the top 2 mmo's (WoW and EVE) for most people jaded by the grind in those titles (if they like sci fi).  it's only in closed beta atm but i hear it's in the best shape out of all the crap that came out of the past years.

i will address the poster above me. closed beta testers didnt test most of the content. when they did, they tested extreme scenarios that wont be present in the actual game as desired by the development team, and they did not test the actual MMO aspect of the game, which is agency vs. agency pvp.

most of the testing was probably done by the in-house testers. all i can say is that a vast majority of the beta testers are very excited about the game. there are a few individuals in that community spreading a lot of their dislikes because it's simply not their type of game. theyre highly biased and hating on the game without giving rational reasons. and they shoulda left after the first test imho. many of the naysayers are basically bitter because they only got to play the game a few times. thats because beta testers were needed for very specific reasons.

it's a FPS with progression, persistency and ridiculously good character customization. this makes it an MMO, and it will absorb many MMO'ers tired of the grind, and a lot of FPS players looking for something deeper.

I've been testing since Alpha (joined september 2008) I've been to just about every test and got a glimps of what is to come so I bought the collector's edition the day they became available. The best part about GA for me, is how big a role the jetpack plays in combat. You don't have to simply worry about which door the other team will come in, but over which ledge or through which hole in the roof...and that's just the PUG play.

Even if you don't think it's worth it to subscribe for the AvA, I  can garuntee that the box price is worth the free to play aspect of the game.

I preordered already.  will most likley sub too.

  • Pengy20Pengy20 Member Posts: 59

I Pre-ordered the first day it became available. I have been watching this game for months and just trying to bide my time with other MMO's till this one is released..Jan 7th can't come fast enough.

"That's ludicrous. Are you seriously suggesting that I get better at the game in order to compete?"-Random Failure in the Global Agenda Beta forums.

  • gorillaz951gorillaz951 Member Posts: 160

Pre-ordered a few days ago. I am very excited to see how this game turns out. I know the free-to-play aspect will be worth it in the long run, but I'm still timid about the sub based game. Although it seems interesting, there hasn't been much released info about it.

Guess we will have to wait until January when the beta servers open to really soak it in. Been looking for a new MMO to call 'home' and others have failed so far (Aion, Champions, AoC, EQ2, WAR).

Don't let us down HiRez :)

    canceled WoW sub - check

    canceled EVE sub - check

    GA preordered - check

  • SyrupBoySyrupBoy Member Posts: 45

Put me on the list of preorders.

I got roped in because it kind of reminds me of Gears of War, not so much the look or the story or anything just the fact that it's 3rd person and the teams are small to give it a more tactical feel.

A lot of people are saying they don't like how they're separating the guilds up into teams during the fights but that's the part that got my preorder really.

Well it looks interesting. Yet does it have a open world of sorts or am I going to be shuffled from instance arena to instance area? Is there going to be any PVE at all and how does it compare to the rest of the game? Is there a story to the game and the pve in general? The pvp looks very thrilling and exciting, the art work and animations are top notch in my book but the questions I asked above need to be answered before I pick up this title and I need to have more to do then just fighting in a fps/3rd person pvp arena type game world. While I like pvp, I also like pve and open world games. Not that I am completely against instancing as it doesn't bother me if its kept limited to arenas, dungeons, etc but I need a world to explore and more to do then just pvp.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

  • sonoggisonoggi Member Posts: 1,119

pvp and pve encounters are fully instanced. no open world to explore, except for social hubs. this is very much a pvp-first kinda game.
