I would not usually do this kind of post. However I have read a lot of bullshit on these forums, and rather than reply to each and every post, i thouhgt I would make a thread here and let them come here and reply to this one :
Sieges in AoC are not fixed, and I quote :
Sieges on fury are a mess. I myself won't do any anymore since they are in the worst case 2 hours of frustration because of the lag and in the best cause 10 since they usually crash.
They should be fun but really aren't. My belief is that aoc will die before funcom can fix the sieges and make them "work like intended". afterall sieges have never been working smoothly from day 1. And we are now a year and half ? (something like that) after launch.

Lastly, siege crashed on Fury yesterday however, it's reached the point here people don't bother reporting it. Today, hardly anyone does BK sieges on Fury anymore, because they don't work. ok?

as you can see it does help to balance your siege bud, haveing 10.000 demos and necros are not improving your odds in siege. Siege leaders on crom are going though list of signed up players for siege and if there is too much necros then some of them cant come, they need to bring something else... That's why you can see this many sucesses in siege battles. Meaby something to think about besside this is much more fun then having to fight hordes of necro pets.

Are you emplying that if players want a chance that the siege does not crash and has playable lag, they bring less necros?
1 . First off, that is not what I call a fix to the problem. No, sieges are not fixed it htey only work when you bring melee....
2. Second of all, necro pets get owned in massive pvp and it's not the pets causing the lag and crashes.
3. If Funcom intended a class limitation for attending sieges, they would have implemented such a limitaion in the system itself, not relie on players to spontaneously do this.
Your iniatives are respectable, but serve absolutely no purpose in showing how BK sieges are fixed. They are not fixed, I stand by this conclusion until proven otherwise.
P.S. People used to bring casters before so many crashes happened you know?

Yesterday 23:00 Sinister Awakening sieged Angelos Caidos, and the siege crashed again after 3 minutes of siege start.

dude, im not saying that sieges are optimezed and are like they should be... but if you look at who is having more crashes, pvp server or pve server and you will see that pvp servers are having more crashes due to their l33tn3zz.
On RP-PVP server there was a guild who got attacked, first wall was down after 5 min into siege, but they had a backup plan, 9 pet necros waiting. Can you imagine what happends you have 9 necros x 8 pets each, thats 72 freakn pets storming at you, when we just start to use a little aoe we got our selfs crash.
Again im not saying that sieges in aoc are optimzed to be 100% working but they are definitly not as dark as you want them to be either.
I have yet to participate in a siege. Being on a PVE erver this doesnt happen alot. I do get the occasional lockup or crash unf not sieging.

I don't understand how in a so called AAA MMORPG that cost millions of euros to make, how come an instanced siege with a player cap still has exploits and crashes on a regular basis after 18 months of work and an expansion coming out next quarter? It just doesn't make sense to me, can anyone explain this?
BTW: If you go melee in DFO you fight in third person. First person is only when using archery or magic. Also DFO has open world sieges of 100's vs 100's and it doesn't crash or lag out, so what's Funcom's excuse?

My guild has done several defenses in the last few weeks and we haven't had a single crash. The guilds that crash on my server typically load their team with demo and necro and have nothing but aoe going. I could see where having the server have to calculate all those hits every second could overload it and make that instance crash.
Not saying thats what causes it but I could see it being a part of the issue.
you will not find many people contesting the fact that the lag and crashes MAY be caused by having many necros and demos.
My point is that for over 1 year and a half, BK sieges have not worked properly and still don't.

90% siege issues are on EU servers, which Funcom have been looking in to, which I will add is why 1.06 is partially delayed.
So they are working on the occasional issue seen, and doing something about it.
Of course it is frustrating and annoying when it happens, it happened to me once a long time back.
Sure we want them fixed for everybody and that is what they are working towards asap. 1.05 put a lot of new code in there.
Paco stop putting US servers in the same mix as EU servers and labeling it as the entire game. EU servers are having 10x more issues than US servers are. Check out Wicannas siege threads and you will see there hasnt been any crashes. They are even planning a "global siege" in which they are designing teams and a story line for assault and defense.
Again your issues are with the EU servers, so stop trying to make it sound like its all of the servers when it is infact not.

If they managed to sort it out in the U.S and not in the E.U then that clearly means it is not a coding issue or game side issue but a hardware issue because we are playing the same game yes?
I am not a IT specialist, but I am concluding that this means that it is the servers in the U.S that are better than in the E.U. So if that is the case, the problem will not be solved by patch notes, it will be solved by purchasing a descent server.

Kind of unfair that you pay the same amount for the same product but recieve a lower quality one, seems to me that Funcom should refund their EU customers for not providing the same services they give to their NA customers. Personally I think blaming it on the location of the server is a pretty piss poor attempt at an excuse for providing you with a sub standard product. From the get go AoC has been plagued with performance issues and still is 18 months later, next year they'll be blaming the bugged expansion on your computer no being good enough to handle thier awesomesauce programers 1337 skillz!

Sieges are good for my demo's KDR. Keep them laggy! j/j
I h8 them. I find them to be a nuisance. My guild does them as a necessity for the buffs. It wastes 48 peoples time when they have poor performance. Last time I took a break from Conan was because I was p1ssed about sieges being crashed on purpose. Last time I did a siege that was fun was when it was a pre-decided 24 vs. 24 with very little lag.

I dont mind you complaining about EU Funcom servers and saying that there is an issue with them. If there is an issue with the servers being sub par to US servers then I would say by all means please yell at them to get it fixed.
That being said you started this thread by saying 2 things:
1 is that AoC will die if sieges arent fixed, which is a load of poo as sieges are only 1 part of the game, and I can say that a lot of people, especially on PvE servers which does make up a good deal of the community, are completely indifferent to sieges. While they find them fun, they dont feel they are a necessity to gameplay or to their experience.
2. You posted a quote from me, and then said my statements were false. They are not false as I play on US servers, so therefore I can speak on US servers and not EU servers. On US servers they have been fine and have been happening each week without incident, at least on our server.
MMO's normally have huge issues when they are in different companies for the fact that they use different hosting companies in these different countries. Often times they also use smaller publishing companies as well to handle them. This can be seen in looking at Turbine. When you submit a ticket here, or work with a GM in the US you are dealing with Turbine, if you live in EU you are actually dealing with Codemasters, and there are a lot of noted differences in terms of lag, customer service, performance etc between the two even though it is the same game and the same code.
How is lag in raids on the EU servers? Do you guys redline a lot or is this simply related to just sieges? My guess is just that whoever Funcom is using out in EU is not doing a well enough job at keeping its hardware up.

Maybe Wicca has good performance it has few players and is a PvE server so the problem there is people not caring for sieges

Sieging is a major issue atm...ignoring or denying it doesn't help.
Funcom has reviewed all of its assets relevant for

Actually, Wiccana is one of the busiest NA AoC servers. Ala, the reason you have so many PVP sieges on a PVE server.
However, most raid groups on Wiccana heavily, heavily control the number of casters (especially Necros) on each side. Heavily caster filled sieges have issues on Wicanna as much as they do everywhere else. You can find some of the old Dogboys comments on it. Siege leaders on Wiccana just appear to be better at forming sieges that do not crash.
However, requiring certain classes to sit out sieges does not make sieges fixed.
And this folks is why when hitting level 80 again, i cancelled my subs.
The endgame both pvp and pve sucks. Have fun those who still love the game when expansion hits....im sure it will run smooth. I mean they almost fixed sieges 1.5 years after release lol. And people pay for this as a main game 0_o

Sieges haven't been working properly since DAY ONE and some fanbots still try to convince people otherwise. Fortunately, the fanbots are not the only ones with access to information. Fortunately, the truth sooner or later comes out into the open.
And by the way, not a single thing has been said about the sieges concerning the expansion, not a word. My educated guess is that they'll just focus more and more on minigames and arenas and delete anything that has to do with sieges, even using mind probes to make players forget there ever was such a shame in AoC designated as "siege warfare".

Honestly i dont think this will be solved in a good way before they either find the bottleneck(like Warhammer online did early desember) or they upgrade the servers.
Really reminds me of Altarec Valley in vanilla WoW. Only happend once a week and crashing half the time.
I doubt you will ever see sieging at 100%, if they could have they would have by now. Looks like it's time they abandon the design altogether and come up with something for their next expansion (if they make it that far).

FYI
I participated in 4 sieges this week. All of them crashed (attacking and defending). Some crashed after only a few minutes.
All of them had insane lag.
Also, there were other sieges that happened on Fury, they crashed also, and had crazy lag also.
