Hi guys!
Im thinking about rolling this game so i have few questions. Currently im on Aion and im not exactly happy with it. I for one enjoy PvE above all. this is very important to me. so i here it goes.
1. how is leveling here? is it interesting? hows with grinding? i know that mmos cant exist without grinding but i dont wanna find myslef in situation grinding for 1 whole lvl cause lack of quest.
2. hows community? im aware that this is a older game and majority of players are max lvl but if i start playing now will i be able to find grps for leveling? dont wanna end up playing alone.
3. craftng. is it reasonable? what i mean is will i be forced to grind +2weeks for each material if i wanna craft a better item. by grinding i dont mean raiding instances but solo grinding for maths.
4. and most important. PvE. i enjoyed PvE in WoW VERY much. that was before BC. vanilla wow instances were the best and i enjoyed them very much. is it similar system here? it doesnt have to be similar..just fun. 30 ppl cooperating in killing 1 badass boss.
thanks in advance.

1. LOTRO has the best PVE in any MMORPG. Leveling is great and you'll very rarely if ever find yourself having to grind without having a quest, certainly never a whole level. If you keep up with the epic storyline then never.
2. Community is great. Last I checked there was plenty of people to run instances at all levels, at least on Brandywine server.
3. Finding mats for crafting is never that difficult and crafting is actually useful in this game, which is really nice. Almost every craft has at least one or two items that are useful for every level and/or can make money.
4. Like I said, LOTRO has the best PVE. There's a bunch of raids and instances, the quest writing and execution is the best of any mmorpg like it, and the epic book quests are really fun and have great storylines.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

Are you interested in pvp at all? If so, stay away from LOTRO. Expect to be doing nothing but questing/grinding/crafting for months on end. Don't say I didnt warn you! :-)

I don't think he cares about the pvp.

im curious what is the maximum number of players in a dungeon? how many ppl is required for hardest instances?
Raid content currently is 12-man instances. There was some 24-man content earlier in the game (back when the level cap was 50 - it's now 65), but 12 man has bee nthe largest for over a year now. Having said that... the new skirmish content scales up to 12 man instances, but each player gets to bring an NPC "soldier" with them as well, so those can sort of be 24 man (but 12 of those are computer controlled).
I went to try this game because it is pretty much the only game left i have not tried.Well i picked the tab that said pick this and you should be up and running in about an hour.Well after a couple hours i check in on the download and it says 12 more hours lool,so i hit cancel ,delete the icons it made and i guess it will go down as the only game i never tried lol.
Personally i heard it was all about quests and i have no desire to quest anymore i am all done with that type of boring game play.
I am pretty much left with FFXIV now and i here it is all about guildleves ,witch again is quests, geesus ,i wish ONE just one game developer can think of something creative to do in games besides boring quests.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
There are 3 man, 6 man, and 12 man dungeons. Most From about level 50-65, but there are three 6 mans before level 50. Also, when you play if you have trouble looking for people to group with or you think the world seems empty, type /joinchannel glff
If the server you choose has this, it is a global looking for fellowship channel that, to me, makes all the difference in the game. Without it I'd think the game was empty and I'd never be able to do half the group quests in the game.
What about exciting quests?

Best quests.
LOTRO was also the only game I hadn't tried for a really long time. Something about it put me off, maybe because I didn't like the books (except for the Hobbit). I tried the free trial a couple of times but gave up before level 10 twice. Then I tried a third time and actually made it past level 10, saw more of the game, and then fairly quickly became addicted to how awesome it is.
Not sure if that had to do with rolling a hobbit the last time. The Shire is unlike the rest of the game, and for some reason it really appealed to me and allowed me to get into the game.
I was definately skeptical for a long time, but if you give the game a decent chance, you'll see it really is the best pve MMORPG out there by a long shot.
This is game is pure bore. You will be killing bears, wolves, and spiders till your 65.
Pretty sure you mean WoW, and you mean level 80.
Then you played it wrong.
You are most likely to impatient for this game.

it seems i cant find the client for eu. trial one.when i try to dl it by that theirs superfast coonnection iy stoppes at some point and when i press direct dl it wants me to dl 10GB which i am not going to dl. is it possibe that lotr alone without exp packs has 10gb or they r trying to stick me 2 exp packes? i mean whats the point in that? i cant really experience concent since ill be playing trial.
I have a friend I play Age of Conan with.. and she plays LoTRO as well with another group of friends she says she is enjoying it. I am not sure what level she is but she just recently flinished her legendary weapon quest or some such and is outfitting it currently.
I have thought about giving a try several times in the past.. But she keeps telling me to stick with Age of Conan as it is a much better game. The only thing she says is really better abour LoTRO is it runs smoother on her machine. Granted she is playing on a slightly older computer which she is hoping to upgrade this year. My laptop only slows down on Age of Conan when zoning. I have crashed maybe once in the last 2 weeks. So meh I dont know. AoC she claims is the better of the 2.
While I'll say that the PvE is better in AoC than in most games, it can't touch LOTRO. The only areas in which AoC is the better game IMHO is PvP (for obvious reasons) and in it's character models. Aside from that, LOTRO has AoC beat soundly in every other regard.
Now, before all you flame zombies come out to feed, feast your eyes on the IMHO part of that first paragraph. You got it? Good! Now, read that part again!
Your fail comment, failed.
well would say get the 14 day trial...imo an ok good single player game so far (lvl 16 atm), so far not what Id be looking for in a MMO but is just n00b lvls...but how I miss dungeon runs (not easy accesable instances!)
and OMFG....speechless...
how does one 'roll' a game
I have played on Landroval since release and currently have 5 end game toons. I am personally an ardent fan of PVE and rarely have any desire to PVP.
I am currently subbed to LOTRO, DDO and more recently AOC with a few months of EQ thrown in from time to time.
LOTRO is far and away my favorite in terms of pve adventure and scope. As a Tolkein fan I feel that Turbine has done an incredible job (on the whole) of transferring middle earth to an MMO space.
While I personally have enjoyed the starter levels, I have more then a few friends who have thought otherwise. Despite Turbines best efforts at diversity and sheer number of quests and adventuring options, LOTRO really doesn't shine until you break out of the low 20's and start engaging more challenging content.
While many games seem to narrow their scope the higher your level, LOTRO offers an ever expanding content dynamic in terms of mounts, housing, crafting, quest areas and exploration. While those players dedicated to min-maxxing their toon will focus on very specific paths of advancement, there is a plethora of options even at 65 for the rest of us. The small group raids have been my favorite as of late and provide an extreme challenge with the rewards to match.
The only other game that I have experienced with close to the pve scope of LOTRO was Vanguard. The big difference being that LOTRO continues to grow while Vanguard is essentially DOA without a publisher committed to its success.

Everyone should try LotRO...it's a great game...
PLAYING: NOTHING!!!
PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi, RoM
WAITING FOR: Dust 514
I had the greatest time in lotro the other day. A 6-hour run in Fornost, with 4 out of the 6 original group members making it to the end. We got all 7 out of 8 quests for the instance done and it was tremendous fun.
