This game is turning into more of a joke everyday.

I have just one thing to say.  As far as the game's economic future is concerned this is an epic fail.

Talk about shooting your self in the foot. /eyeroll

Glad I never wasted my money on this game. "Oh well sub and we can add stuff man" PvP is fun but it cannot be enough in a mmorg with the fed as pve/some pvpreally if they think about it.......what will the klingons shoot, fed noob players maybe the elite few who make it out of the noob area first? So what do they do in the meantime pvp on fed npc's ..........

The idea of a company wanting input to expand is great, but WE ALL KNOW that it never happens in a meaningful time frame players want it's always to late or never happens....man wtf were they thinking

Quote me here, this game will not last 6 months bad news will be hitting the threads within a week of opening of people pissed it's a single player . You can pvp online with any ps3 game almost still a single player :P.

STO "bring the fail to a new level"

I am not a hater or star trek, just the idiots who just tried to make a mmorg out hopes and dreams only to give yet another horrid game. I picture that little girl wanting a big girl mmog, and getting mario brothers for the artari.

Thanks for saving me 79.00 and a wasted week of my time.

After reading all the post I can get  some ideas. First: that people does not know what is in STO, and use critic at a strong level based on intuition (own or from another person), second: When somebody give away some info is attacked untill it get boring to read it, the guy just give some info and everybody speculates about it (which they have the rirght to do, but brings no so much after 6 pages). Third: the game is not ready, a beta is not a definitive game and let us not give hope away. I believe criptic can learn from what they did bad in other games, in place to make a destructive critic try to make a positive one for chance. Maybe even somebody read it and use the ideas in a positive way. While CO is a universe created from the nothing in the other hand STO is one that is already running and sure they can do it better, even when I played CO and didn´t find it so bad ( but yes I stop to play to it after 3 months).

When it is confirmed that klingon are only pvp like in the LOTRO... well will be dissapointing. But for what I read about the game you will be able to play with one as a federation officer. Maybe later and yes sometimes later is too late, you can play directly with the klingon empire. Lets whait to see what these people do untill febrary and then we will see.

There is so much potential for a bad game here that I will definitely not be buying STO before trying it out for free. Which kinda sucks because I wanted to pre order to get one of the goodies but I'm so afraid that they've already screwed up STO beyond repair. The only way I'm going to pre order is if i get into beta and find I like STO.

Then push the game back until there is more content for one of the two factions in the game. You're not a by-stander - you're in charge of the game.
If Klingons are half-assed at release, it will hurt subs a LOT.

Doing that has its own set of "issues"... Keep in mind who the publisher is...We've all seen this WAY too many times before.  One would think that eventually it would dawn on the suits making such ham handed decisions... But so far its not looking like they are capable of learning even something this fundamental.

Its too bad that they have decided to throw a bone to the PvP types right out of the box. Lots of people would have liked to have played the side of the Empire, but have little or no interest in MMO PvP.  Its been demonstrated time after time, after time, in game after game, that there are more CareBears than there are PvP types(especially in the west).  But it is easier and cheaper(content/time wise) to go PvP(with players creating your content for you) than PvE.  Which is why so many have made that basic mistake before(and no doubt will again).

    Just need to comment here.

lingons are NOT PvP only.  They are PvP primarily.  They have PvE content, but just not much.  However, if enough folks tell Cryptic that they want Klingon PvE content, then I guarantee there will be a lot more content by launch.

I just don't want to see a game that's still only in closed beta be condemned and doomed by folks who have yet to even see it.  I know many folks hate Cryptic...but that's true of pretty much every MMO company in existence.  Either way, like them or hate them, they do respond to what their players want.  I've played CO since open beta, and the number of changes and editions that I've seen happen due directly to player comments is astounding.

Give STO a chance.  I think you'll find it (including Klingons) surprisingly cool.

If they truly want to gain the interest of the more pvp type players that news was just a shot in the balls for them it makes little sense to do it like said, and everyone is pissed as it just sounds wrong on so many levels. To say there is more carebears than pvp focused people thats wrong as well, a average game has 200k-900k subs of which atleast half only play to pvp.......Games like aion, warhammer, eve online, guild wars etc. all mostly pvp focused with pve to match of course but still to ignore flat out pvpers do not make a game successful you fail at marketing.

STO's only way to get these players attention now is to select more pvpers for beta and hope for good reviews by them IF they got the content which I am doubting now.

But prove me wrong STO, I am willing to test it or are you hiding that klingons were rushed and mirrored with no actual "pvp" content. You can send me a in-site mail here if you wish to prove me wrong.

Interesting that you mention Eve... CCP itself has long since admitted that around 2/3's of their player base stays in high sec and seldom if ever leaves it.  It SERIOUSLY annoys the CCP Dev's, but thats the reality they are faced with. The same goes for many other games in the west.  That reality is also why Aion is very likely to follow much the same path that Linage2 did subscription wise(in the west).  I suspect that the Klingon decision was made in order to save time/resources for application to the rest of the game.

I see, and how many of them in empire of eve online are alts running goods for pvp alts I use to run 2 freighters afk while I pvped moving my ships around to new spots etc. 2/3's might not leave empire because they are supply alts or marketing alts. So back to 1/2 we go. Aion lost how many subs as the pvp is horridly boring and forts were nothing but laggy crashes due to the huge memory leak........yeah they took a serious blow to subs not only due to that but a few other factors as well.

Most pvpers don't just run about killing others they also do pve content but like me most enjoy GOOD pvp not a simple mirror of another faction to just have no pvp. Do tell me how are you suppose to have a lets say 85% pvp focused race with nothing to pvp against.......Be it Star Trek is not a huge magnate for pvp people I'd say, but it's still a new game and was interesting to see a change in the lame stuff thats currently out.

Well one good thing for all of us if china blacklists mmo games :) bye bye bots.
