For those of you who don't know, Mortal Online recently held a video contest where players in the beta could create their own movies from inside the world of Nave. The contest received 33 entries and the top five have been selected. I just watched them and I think they're great. They really give you a good idea of what the game is like so far, the positive aspects anyway. I encourage you to take a look at them. You can find all five here, on the official Mortal Online website. The game has a lot of promise as I think these videos show. With this upcoming patch on Monday it will be much, much closer to being release ready. This one month delay is a good thing and hopefully it will give the devs enough time to fix any major bugs in game and get this thing on track to being the amazing game I hope it will one day be. Enjoy the videos.

Videos were far too edited to give a idea of what the game was really like to play.
For example, the winner went to black screen every 3-5 secs and skipped forward, for dramatic approach.
I also didnt see anything new in these videos from the beta i played in November.
Same few mobs. What does this game have; around 10 mob types worldwide?
Correct me if I'm wrong. And please.... dont add every variation of the non combat harvest mobs like weasels/pigs/deer/ect.
No, you're right. I think, including the non combat mobs, it only has around 11 in the game. They actually have many more mobs created that are not in the game, though. You can find their sound files and some models in the engine. Supposedly there will be many more mobs in the game with this upcoming patch. That's what the recent newsletter said, anyway. Based off what I've seen in the engine, there are quite a few mobs to come.
You have in game, currently:
Weasels, Domestic Pigs, Gazelles, Horses, Razorbacks, Wisents, Wolves, Direwolves, Minotaur, Terror Birds, and Skeletons
Along with these mobs, the client we currently have has files for:
Armadillos, Babuntas, Bronthotherium, Bull Horses, Care Bears (lol), Cats, Chickens, Clams, Crocodiles, Cups, Dolphins, Donkeys, Dragons, Emperor Moths, Goblins, Hair Balls, Horn Tails, Inner Sea Spiders, Khurite Hawks, Lictor Cranes, Lizards, Lizard Men, Medium Horses, Mussels, Myrland Horses, Needle Balls, Night Fiddlers, Nightsnatches, Orcs, Plate Fish, Rabbits, Rats, Scorpions, Sharks, Skunks, Snails, Squirts, Taur Dogs, Tribe Rats, Trolls, Turtles, Urials, Water Lizards, and Winged Spica. I'm sure there are more too, in different directories, that I haven't listed.
I think the videos do a good job of getting the viewer hyped, though. They do demonstrate the scope of the gameworld and some of them show a fair amount of PvP.
I was very excited by this game when I saw the inital video of mounting the horse in first person and the wide valley. Unfortunatly from the level of polish to the environment at this point it's clear that the detail is put into small pockets of interest and much of the world is proceeduraly generated and looks very bland. Really tiley grass and rock textures, low poly melted ice-cream rock mounds. Fields with no radial flora and houses ploped down in them really make me lament the game. As an environment artist I want a game world which pays attention to good looking environments, especilly if it's a big massive world to explore.
Age of Conan has great environment art but contained small zones, it's a catche 22 I guess. Gamers who want open worlds have to lower their expectations because development time to craft sprawling worlds requires a big environment team which small tiles like this can't aford.
I'm not saying it's a deal breaker, and maybe I'm a bit jaded by seeing the polish of some mmo characters and environments really makes these sand-box worlds feel hacked together and poor quality by compairson.

Sad but true.
But seriously.
Mostly untested monsters in the last 30 days, before release?
Doesn't sound promising. Wait and see, is all I can say.
The ground textures and flora could look better, but for the most on its perfect for what the area si supposed to look like. The continent we are testing is Myrland and the vast majority of the content is based off the mongolian steppes.
Google pictures of mongolian steppes. If you were making an area that looks like that what would you do different?
Those houses were put there by players, but they do need to add more house designs the one they have now is butt ugly when you add the 2nd and 3rd tiers.
My sig is just as logical as your posts are
Ah but look!
Its the guy that claimed SV are unethical company becouse they didnt send his box on time. So he got a refund. Then it turned out he has been playing the game for free due to game account error.
Now we have the same "ethical" person complaining about the lack of animals.
He gets an answer that much more animals are comming in the game next monday.
However he is still not happy. Becouse, you see, the new animals will be untested! ROFL
I am sure if dev comes here and answers him that all those mobs have been tested in-house he will then complain about....say...the grass colour under that high tree at khurite village 2.
Well as you can easily see, I dont post much, but drop in time to time, like I did after my refund but back then in game.
I see little has changed in the last 6 weeks. I've heard about that special next patch, over and over.
Stopped in. Nothing new. Just a waiting game, weeks/patches go by.
Nothing new, same stale bread. Bye.
(P.S. Do me favor, stop quoting me, so that I dont get those e-mails, and feel inclined to revisit the stale bread thread)
There has been just 1 small patch during the last 3 weeks. It introduced thievery and a bit more.
The patch tomorrow is expected and said to bring to MO all the promised features. We will see.
Try unchecking the "Watch this thread?" option genius. Has nothing to do with you being quoted.
After that look up what machinama is.
Thier supposed to be like short films; not just some guy running around frapsing a few minutes of gameplay.
