Best books on EQII lore + Expansion question

OntblodOntblod Member UncommonPosts: 195

So...Im thinking of joining EQII with the upcomming expansion Sentinels Fate

and have looked up some of the strategy/atlas/lore books out there but which

ones is the best? There is of course the Everquest Companion: The Inside Lore of a Game World

or the The Official Everquest II Atlas, even Desert of Flames seems to contain lore

so which one should I get if I want more info on the world of Norrath?

Yea I know there are webpages with EverquestII lore but I hate reading

on the screen, it hurts my eyes after a while. I rather be reading from a book

laying in my bathtub. ;)

I would really like to start playing at once but since the expansion is due

for release in FEB, should I wait or buy it now, I dont wanna buy the game

twicwe so to speak but maybe its not that expansive at the moment?

I havent checked that out, maybe I should lol.

Sidenote: Its too bad about vanguard, thats where Im coming from but

it feels like it has no future, EQII has its sixth expansion on the way,

books to read, etc and Vanguard has basically nothing of that.(besides better graphics)

Besides EQII is higher on the Xfire list, Im assuming it has more people

playing it? Well maybe one day I return but now I wanna play EQII.

I enjoyed the 2 trials I have tried.

wait for the expension !for once sony might send eq2 again in ebgame or other big chain.and they might even send 1 or two time card

since soe has stopped sending time card or eq and eq2 video game.dont know whats wrong with soe.

blizzard is flowding the tv screen and all store with game time card etc but soe think its not needed anymore

this is a great game but the fact soe is in asia means they forget what sell game in america lot of publicity and the game and time card have to be avail in store like walmart or sears or zellers or ebgame if its just avail online ,its just too bad for soe

but they get only 20% customer when they could get 75 & more so if they got 100 k now if they worked a bit they might have 700 k player instead

it truelly baffle me they want so bad free realm to work they ignore that lot of people love the eq and eq2 style

oh well they can go bankrupt for all i care ,soe was so badly advised in the past its no wonder they got ton of issue.

eq2 and eq success pass by ebgame and other big chain store ,but since soe dont want to steal the spotlight from freerealm

lot of game in soe stable will fail because they dont spread their effort and focus too much on silly stuff

But timecards are really not an issue for me, besides I live in Sweden. ;)

So far I havent been able to find one online store "over here" where you can pre-order

the expansion, which is kind of worrying. I hope it will before launch because

I really want the retail collectors edition if Im gonna buy it.

Well unfortunately there will be no boxed sales in EU or any preorders anywhere, Amazon UK may do it but it seems unlikelier for every day, there is a thread on the official EQ2 forums about it and the silence from SOE is total. You will not get the 7 day headstart count on that. I would suggest that you either download the 14 day trial or get a Recruit a friend (the only bonus with recruit a friend for you  is that you get 14 days free and the WHOLE game up to ROK) invitation and start now and try out classes and servers and see what you like then purchase the download in Feb.  I have sent you a private message too.

As for printed sources for Lore the one you listed are the only one I know about, I prefer to read the lore online as those sites are usually better than the printed ones.

    I wouldnt say that

I promise that I have faithfully relayed the feelings in the matter

I know that it's frustrating and that having me tell you we're working on it and please be patient with us, doesn't really help.

I'll continue to keep everyone updated as I get new info. Chances are that I won't have anything new until after the holidays here in the states, but the very second I do I will post it for you.

I have been in business and retail the last 20 years, if SOE does not have any EU retail outlets lined up before Christmas they will not have any after Christmas either. The lead time in purchasing and product planning is usually much longer than 2 months, especially considering that SoE has not had any EU retail prescense except Amazon UK for years.
