Been over a year since last time I played LOTRO and I gotta admit, I am impressed on the changes that turbine did to the game. The game feels more balanced, more quests and of course the Directx 10 graphics on Ultra high make this game spactacular! I recently came from Aion, and in no way am I bashing it at all far from it, I'm at a stage in Aion where at level 34+ it's alittle ,.....slow and the lack of quests plus the grind is'nt for me at this time, however , I believe in a year or two that Aion will be great as well.
Getting back to LOTRO, The reason why I decided to give it another go was because of the PvE content of the game and the quests driven story line that this game has to offer, plus you don't have a grind like what Aion does currently.
I also have a question to people that have high level characters in LOTRO, is it worth getting Siege of Mirkwood? The expantion looks amazing and I was just wondering if the hype for it is justified? I would also like to know at what level can you goto Mirkwood, since I decided to start over fresh again, any thoughts to my questions would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

Conceivably you could hold off on getting Mirkwood and spend some time at the old lvl 60 cap doing Moria instances and such. They are still popular because of the quality of armor and jewelry obtained. But eventually you will want to get to 65. Mirkwood, the new book, the new instances, and the lvl 65 skirmishes are all worth doing.
A good deal of the changes to features do not require Som, however at 30, you can start playing one of its more innovative features (with out SoM, you are limited to how many/ what skirmishes you can play).
