Hello Guys,
I am doing some marketing research for my shcool project. Since I have 12 questions, I can't really use the poll here in one thread. If you have time, please come to the following address to complete the survey.

Nothing beats nice headphones. Mainly because I like the sound volume low, without all that backround noise stuff.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
12. Where do you locate your speakers?
You have several options for headphones only, but then you put this. I don't have speakers to put...

In front of monitor

And neither do alot of gamers. Most MMO gamers I know IRL don't even have game sound on, they use a headset for Vent/TS and that's about it. For FPS players, we use the best headsets we can find. If you don't use a headset, you might as well be running 10frames per sec..... cause you're going to get demolished.

A buddy of mine played CS with no sound what so ever, or often times he'd just leave the head phones sitting on the desk near by and play like that and do quite well. I guess maybe he was playing against poor opponents but it's possible.

A lot of people will advocate headphones. However, after 4 hours they will always start to be uncomfortable especially if you have odd sized ears. You can get a good sound quality out of good speakers. If you purchase some logitech speakers thinking they will be excellent, you will be disappointed. However when you get something more expensive like Bose or Behringer, you get a large difference in audio quality.
I own a set of Koss head phones. I find that they give a good sound quality, replicate surround sound very well and are the most comfortable head phones I have ever owned. I chalk this up to the fact that they're not sitting on the ear itself but rather on my head around my ear not compressing the cartilage at all. I got these because a buddy of mine claimed they were broken and he was going to throw them out. I took them and with a bit of looking and testing found that they only needed to have the audio jack replaced because the connections got damaged. It cost me 50 cents and a trip to Radio Shack (at the time) for head phones that retailed at the time for about I think it was ~$50, I don't remember. Sadly they're getting old now and I get the feeling that within a few months I will have to go out and start looking for a worthy replacement. It's going to be hard, they've served me well.
On the other side I used to own a pair of Sony ones. They did a good job with the sound, came with a volume control on the cord, and were light and portable. However they sat right on top of my ear, the cartilage part. After about 1-2 hours of constant use while gaming I'd take them off to go to the bathroom and there would be a sharp shooting pain as if I just released the blood flow back into it. Shortly after that the ear would be tender to the touch and I'd not want to wear anything on my head. Thankfully they broke somehow and I no longer had to suffer.
Thanks to this I know exactly what I'll be looking for when it comes time to replace my Koss ones. I wish they weren't on their last leg of service though....
