Well, your post doesnt say what MMO'S you've already played so people could keep saying the same games you've already played over and over. Anyways, some good MMO'S that doesn't concentrate on one thing would be,WoW,Aion,EQ,Dark Fall etc.
WoW is your best option. It has Balanced PvP and PvE. By Balanced, I mean, you can focus on ether or as your main Focus of End Game. And Still Switch at anytime. Lots of Options to do. Also in the next X-pac they will even be making PvP guilds more options
I was going to suggest that too, but there's no pvp at all so it has a heavy focus on PVE.
Meh, there's Monster Play for some PvP. Players can make a PvP monster after reaching L10 with a main / alt. And journey into PvP zoneage with a main / alts at level 40+. But it's a beautiful game for PvE, a little PvP (with Monster Play) if that's your bag, nice scenery, no Goldshire 1337speak (at present) and LoTR has just had a new expansion. Big player cities / towns (like Bree, Thorin's Hammer, etc) and it's a big bonus if you are a fan of the novel for detail, despite the lore rule-bending like Goblins being out in daylight for grinding purposes / quests etc.
Well, I've only ever played one game seriously, and thats World of Warcraft. But my work into that MMORPG is extensive and vast, and I'm currently leveling yet another character, and I want another game to play in addition to this. I've played other games lightly, for maybe an hour or so, but nothing really "hardcore", so pretty much all MMORPG's (apart from World of Wacraft obviously) can be suggested.

Lord of the Rings Online.

If you want variety, then WoW is your best bet.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
I agree here.

whatever game you choose make sure that you graphic card is set to replace all setting since most game
use outdated program yes including wow
if your card replace all setting ,your fps will go from 17 fps wow controled graphic to arout 58 fps with nvidia controlled graphic setting
one big problem is the lack of comunication between game maker,os maker, graphic card maker and all the rest
so very often game maker use sub-routine that were optimized by say grapphic card maker but werent in the game
