What is it you love about Eq/eq2/wow/Daoc?

I am looking forward to the New generation of games, Eq 2, WoW. I am just hoping to rekindle that lust for the game that I once had. For me I had a great time auctioning in zone and talking to passer bys. I am just wondering if that opportunity will be there in the newer games. I am not always about going to kill the monster, I like getting my gear through other means. I also dont like to sit around and craft soI am kinda of  picky. I am a salesman and trader aquirer of rare goods, If you will that is the love I have for these games. I have noticed a trend to phase out the negotiations and just put up bots to sell your stuff like a mindless drone Bah. No fun.

Then there are the people making money and changing the econmies to suit their needs. I miss old school eq pre Kunark anyone rember those days. I hope that Sony can recapture that feel with eq 2. I miss the good old days.  What I love the most about it was the mystery around every turn. Is that newness ever going to be found again.I hope so

DaoC: First time, first month, when I went out in Emain with my lvl31 Thane. Lots of people out there... found a nice group... went up a hill to a nice little tower... looking down the slope on the other side... and a flipping army of Britons came rushing up, all between 20-35!! So we began throwing everything we had and no one really knew what was happenign, it was chaos beyond mayhem, slightly to the left of despair.

My first taste of RvR. Since that day it is in my blood. The ONLY way to make it fun for EVERYONE and no sad faces anywhere... Since then it has changed.. not quite as high excitement level even if its there.. but that day... That first charge... Whoopsiedoo.

Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.
    Go Mythic!

Dark Age of Camelot - Only been playing for 2 weeks.  Level 20 Blademaster.  I love the quests that keep me going non-stop.  For once I can enjoy a MMORPG that has quests where you get great loot.  Also just like Star Wars Galaxies, the game is not linear.  You are not limited to where you want to explore and you can go everywhere, litterally! (too bad SWG's game system sux though)

Everquest 2 - The girl characters are HAWT, the graphics are amazing.  But I cannot stand MMORPGs with loading time.  Having to load 1 area each time you keep exploring sucks, and after 10 hours of EQ2 beta testing for the past 2 days, I still find the game linear.  Maybe it offers more freedom later on in the game, but still... I'm picky when it comes to games, and if games are not "Fun" from the very beginning, it's hard to stay interested in the game for longer only because *people's opinions* say it gets better later on.

Everquest 1 - Played only for a few days until I was disapointed by the graphics and the fact I did not like First-Person-View RPGs... again, if a game is not "fun" or "very interesting" from the very beginning, I have a hard time forcing myself to keep playing.

WoW - Okay this is just my opinion, but when I play a fantasy RPG, I'm always a blond elf... if I can't make a blond elf with white skin (And Nightelves are not blond or white skin) then I avoid the game all together.  I was never a fan of Warcraft games anyways.

EQ- i loved this game so much, it was my first mmorpg, played it for 3 years. i just loved getting into a guild, getting friends to group with and talk to, and do quests with them. i had just never experienced any game like that. after the 3 years of play, i saw another game coming out that i really wanted to play and lost interest. (lvl 65 wood elf druid 38AA points, lvl 51 DE warrior, and a few other alts)

SWG- this is what i dropped EQ to play, loved this game at first. great graphics. the quests weren't very much fun though. when i tried PvP when it first came out i loved that too, i was a master pistoleer/bounty pistols 4 as my first profs and i could own anyone. then they started nerfing stuff and it got to where you couldn't win in PvP unless you were a master teras kasi/master sharpshooter. after about 8 months of play and 14 professions, this got boring. then my friend told me about another game, he said *its awesome, you can siege castles*

Lineage 2-this game was the most frustrating game i have ever played. even at the beginning, people were always harassing you and everyone that walked past was a potential enemy. there was no castle sieges, the game was maybe half done. the pvp system was awful. i really have nothing good to say about this game, except maybe that the graphics were fairly good. quit after 2 months. had a lvl 42 human dark avenger, and lvl 24 light elf wizard.

i have played others, AC2 and AO. but they were just the free trials. but, AC2 i just couldn't stand, AO was ok, but i found the quests very difficult and not very rewarding. not a bad game but i wouldn't pay for it.

that is all the MMORPG's i have played, and why i either liked/disliked them.

I read the begin of the everquest book. The intro was by R.A Salvatore (forgotten realms for those of you that dont know). In it he describes the first time he played everquest. I laugh out loud in the middle of Media Play. I had a very similar experience. I had a friend that came into the game ( now keep in mind this is early on there was only a handful opf Tp'ers at the time) Asd a barbarian and I was trying to get him to Freeport to help him out. SO I ran him the whole way at 3 rd level I think he was. Hahahaha It was one of the best ( and frustrating) times I every had playing an online game. Needless to say it was great. I love the exploration I remeber being 20th level and run through kunark for the first time and was like my god look at these spiders/things.

I miss the feeling of Nastalgia that I keep close to my gaming heart. Is there a game that will rekindle that feel in me.
