I'm not sure if he's trying to say the games are crap or if he was simply trying to come up with something for the letters "DDO".

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was the latter, since it IS true that you can't do much with "DDO" as it's initialed.

For the one who asked about the campaign setting for Baldur's Gate...

The Forgotten Realms.  The most popular D&D setting.  Home of the Baldur's Gate series, as well as the Moonsea and city of Phlan from the *old* gold box series (Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and Pools of Darkness), and Hillsfar.  The Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale series are set there as well.  Maybe even the Eye of the Beholder series.

About the only D&D games NOT set there are D&D Online (Eberron), Planescape: Torment (Planescape), and the gold box Dragonlance series (Dragonlance).

I likely missed some, but you get the point.  I would have preferred DDO be set in the Forgotten Realms as well, perhaps based in Hillsfar, and utilizing the underused Moonsea region (anyone for a trip to Zhentil Keep? ^^)

And there are some limits on your lvling if you are playing for free.  They have some caps that you need cash shop items or drops to keep going.

I'm on Thelanis. From what I understand you can gain all of the leveling packs in game or earn enough points in game to buy them from the store without having to spend money. What items or drops would you need to keep going as you say?

@ the other posters who mentioned exploring in an open world - I agree this could be a problem for some, and furthermore if you don't like instances you would hate this game. Although personally I've had enough adventure and exploring from all of the dungeons and instances so far. For what the game is I still give it a high score.

And yes as another person mentioned the gear is kind of ugly, but that's not keeping me from having fun so far personally :)

you would have to grind out 100 favor points a day for 1 1/2 years to get all the adventure packs in the game

i played this game for about a year ive max lvl all my toons and max most all of there gear its the same quests over and over and over and the more you do a quest the less exp you get from it and you only get favor the first run on each difficulty 4 on normal 6 on hard 12 on elite is 12 favor total only the highest favor on a quest counts to your total

wilderness adventures {slayers} are really a joke you DO NOT gain xp per kill its per lump til it ends up you need 5000 kills for your xp

after lvl 12 you can not solo much of anything so if you cant find a party you cant play also after lvl 12 your in pay to play maps beings most dont pay to play good luck finding that party

save your point you will need giant hold and vale to lvl your first toon to lvl 20 make sure you get these 2 packs giant hold will take you from 12-16 vale 16-20 if you like the game right on message me your ingame name ill send ya a few million plat lol ill never play again
