Anyone here thinks the comunity on the official forums is horrible? You cant go through one post without a handfull of 'know-it-alls' that have encyclopedic knowledge of the universe and trash talk everyone who asks a question or suggests something, not to mention the run of the mill rude people. Reading the threads about black lightsabers and same gender romance arcs, for example, is depressing.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

Depends on what you say.
Honestly, if you go to the Star Wars The Old Republic official forums, what else did you expect to get but that the majority of people have an encyclopedic knowledge of the setting? Of course they do. They will on the Star Trek Online official forums, too. For gods sakes, have you ever been to a con? There are hundreds, if not thousands, if people running around dressed as Jedi and THIS game is the successor of KOTOR 1 and 2 which is one of the most successful game series of all time.
Think about it. Really think about it.
So many people expect to come onto those forums and think that no one is going to call them on their often hairbrained ideas about how they should change canon.
Now, for the black lightsabers thing.... it wouldn't work. For one thing, its not Star Wars. For another thing a black saber wouldn't stand out very well in the Star Wars universe. Lucas originally chose blue and red but changed the blue to green because the new technology wouldn't show a blue lightsaber against the blue screen background very well. The new colors, like purple, are very recent additions. Have you happened to notice that none of them are dark colors? Thats because dark doesn't stand out against dark very well and make it very difficult to light properly even in a computer game.
As for same sex relationships, I don't see why not, and I don't see why its an issue. People need to get over it.

In addition anything that's black (to us) is a substance that absorbs the light frequencies we can see.
Put another way, black is an absence of light observable by the human eye.
I'm really not sure how that would turn out. If you attempted to create a black weapon it's possible that you'd simply get one invisible to the human eye.
It makes for a somewhat interesting independant thought project that's probably not very interesting to game developers.
They are probably just some die hard Star Wars fans who take their game very seriously. I remember the SWG forums being pretty crazy too.
Not sure I would go as far as saying the community there is horrible. When I think of horrible the Darkfall forum community comes to mind. I wouldn't put the folks over there in the same category.
I will say, however, they do have more than a a few ' WTF' moments that occur and some extremely unreal expectations among some.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Yeah I think I agree with you.

This thread is new and original
1.) No different than any other gaming forum
2.) You can't go thru one thread here without know it alls telling you how an MMO should be and look down on those that enjoy what they don't. When this game's direction became known you had quite a few SWG freaks coming in here and spouting how Lucasarts "owes" them a Star Wars game since their beloved treasure was "stolen" from them and trashed talked anyone that disagreed with them.
3.) Pfft. Again, how different than what goes on here? Reading constant whining about how some game in development is going to fail and how rudely they go about doing it by trolling every thread with the same tripe over and over again. You can't expect to pop on a forum for a famous IP like Star Wars and not expect to deal with fanatics. It's no different than popping on here and having to deal with the fanatics for old school MMORPGS.
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft
Funny thing though, I put up a "LFGuild" post for a republic-oriented roleplaying guild. I love Star Wars, but I know as a loyal fan I won't ruin the lore with terribad fan fiction. Almost all the guilds who sent me PMs were just....laughable. The stories on their forums were adaquetly written, but none of it felt like Star Wars. A lot of the community is taking the magic out of the movie. I blame today's free "YOU" websites like DeviantArt or http://fanfic.theforce.net/
I so agree Toquio3, When I make a post on there, most of them are on the fence because I know the slightest arguement its pushes the thread 20+ pages. Oh and you forgot the roleplayers on that forum who want both factions holding hands and skipping along together.
I especially love the ones that go off on people that are against the concept and say the game will fail unless the factions can group together and fully interact with each other.
