OP check out Citadel of Sorcery. It's not released yet, but it looks to be something very different from the normal run of the mill mmos we keep getting spoonfed.
Jatar (one of the Devs) posts on this site, and if he is any representation of the team behind the game, we are in for one hell of a game. Apparently the team is composed of some very talented Devs that were all getting tired of getting told what they could and could not do, and what was even possible to do. So they grouped up and are now Developing things the way they want to.
Something to give you some hope at the very least.
Now back to Darkfall for me.....
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
Sadly, it's just a phase you're going through. As a previous poster remarked, it's just you maturing. At one point I was doing on average 4 hours per day every day, with about 10 hours per day on weekends just playing mmos. And then slowly, I got bored with it and luckily for me, I had a few RL work projects to work on so I quit playing to devote my attention to making some money (hey, who can't use a few extra bucks eh ). Before I knew it, lol 4 years had gone by during which I played absolutely zero games. I picked up Lotro after that but although it is a great game, I just couldn't seem to get into it anymore.
No game these days seems able to garner my interest, mmo or otherwise. Batman Arkham looks like a great game but I got bored trying to find/solve all the puzzles. COD - MW2 was great but lasted 1 weekend. Playing DAO now and it was great but after a couple days lol I got bored and am now trying to just mod my way to cool looking gear instead.
I would suggest that maybe you can stay off games for a little while. Maybe then you wouldn't end up like me, i.e. bored with everything on the market. Maybe choose some tough film project(s) to focus on for a bit ? Perhaps by the time you're done with them something fantastic will hit the market and you can get back on the wagon again.
I tried EVE.. but I'm just not a space fan. That and the fact that it takes a Excel spreadsheet wizard to understand what the heck all of it means. I'll stick to games where I can see my character and stand on solid ground.
I so agree with you on that. EVE online was so difficult to play for me. Let alone I cannot see my character, the first quests given were extremely hard even with help from a higher level player that i could not keep playing.
