EVE or Lotro?

DeviAnteDeviAnte Member Posts: 7

I know, i know. Both of these games are totally different, but hear me out. I would just like to know which one suits me more.

Here are some of the points, that i would like the game to have:

1) I don´t want the game to be repetitive.

2) The uniqueness.

3) The thrill. I played darkfall and i have to say that i have never been so excited when entering into pvp fight with someone else. But sometimes there is thrill in pve too.. haven´t met such game yet..

4) Events. Playermade or official events. Which one has the most unique, interesting and stunning events?

5)Which one would of these games would a casual gamer enjoy the most and why do you think so?

6) What do you think suits me more: EVE online or Lotro?

Both are going to be repetetive, but in different ways.  In LotRO, you will quest/kill for XP.  In EVE, you will quest/kill for Money.
    2) The uniqueness.
Hands down EVE for uniqueness.  LotRO is a pretty typical fantasy MMO for the most part.  It has no noteable PvP to speak of.
    3) The thrill. I played darkfall and i have to say that i have never been so excited when entering into pvp fight with someone else. But sometimes there is thrill in pve too.. haven´t met such game yet..
EVE will give you this feeling.  I didn't even know what I was doing the first time I got involved in a PvP fight in EVE, but it got my heart racing all the same, even when I got blown up.
    4) Events. Playermade or official events. Which one has the most unique, interesting and stunning events?
Turbine used to be amazing for live events, back in the Asheron's Call days.  I'm not sure what they've done now, but I'm -fairly- sure there aren't any live events even comparable to AC's in LotRO.  EVE has a few player events, but the most involving stories are those made by the corporations in the game.  The politics and 'power blocks', as they are, are where you can get the most enjoyment sometimes.  The stories tend to build and happen naturally, rather than be planned.
5)Which one would of these games would a casual gamer enjoy the most and why do you think so?
LOTRO is very casual friendly compared to most other PvE MMOs of its kind.  EVE is also very casual friendly, but caters to both types of players.  Its real-time skill training system allows you to advance even when offline, which makes your main "grind" for money, and not XP.
    6) What do you think suits me more: EVE online or Lotro?
If you have played many major fantasy MMOs in the past few years, LotRO isn't going to offer you much you haven't already seen.  It is a polished game though, with a lot of story-driven content as Turbine is known for.
If you want something new, that will challenge you, EVE is the best choice hands down.  It has a high learning curve, and it honestly is not for everyone.  It will take a while to learn the ins and outs, and a year or two later, you will probably still be learning new things.  EVE is a game where you can log in, check the market, set a skill to train, do a quick mission.. and then log out, if you just don't have the time to play.  But it will also reward you for playing and interacting with other players.  Getting into a good player-run corporation (guild) is a must to really get involved in EVE, and you really need to leave preconceptions of other MMOs at the door when you log in.
