Hmm, I like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy idea, but it's a little to quirky and humorous to be an MMO.  District 9 would be interesting.  Also Spore, anyone played that game?
District 9? Spore? Where's the content? Come on.
I would love to see that turn into an MMO.  One of my favorite games.  I imagine character creation would be better than any other MMO (lol).
BFD. Character Creation is great in Champions Online. The rest of the game? Not so great.
Or any IP with a good story behind it I would love.  Lore is a very important element to an MMO, at least to me.

Lore is exactly what the devs would pervert and twist to suit their own vision.

    Hmmm...I think about this often...

    Mouse Guard

The Guard could be in dire need of new mice and could be heavily recruiting to  defend the territories...The pen n paper RPG and the comics provide enough detail to build off of.

    Dark Heresy

I realize a Warhammer 40k MMO is in the making, but the Dark Heresy setting is so much more darker than the core Warhammer 40k.

    Rogue Trader

I know it's basically the Dark Heresy setting, but it's more about space exploration and what not...it could be like a grim EVE.

    Conan (done right)

I'm a huge fan of the lore, and I enjoy playing AoC...it could have just been done so much better...

    Middle Earth

Not set during the War of the Rings, but maybe during the Second Age...It could be more of an open world/ sanbox, with players either being good or evil, and offer more PvP.

    PLAYING: NOTHING!!!
PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi, RoM

    WAITING FOR: Dust 514

What i wouldnt want to see as an MMO: 95% of most anime titles. That being said i have a few exceptions to this.

The exceptions: Ghost In The Shell: If there is a better world setup for a modern MMO with the proper publisher i dont know what it is.

Gurren Lagann (post ending) The ending reveals a massive universe being reborn and a new age. Something was about to happen and they were sending a ton of ships. A LOT was left open and if done right i'd play in a heartbeat.

Mega Man X or Legends: Now how am i putting those two in this spot?  The Megaman series was originally an anime in both respects X and original. The legends series had a lot of potential but they didnt take it far enough and made it too kiddy. The X series is an incredible timeframe with a lot of action and a lot of manuverability. Being able to create a reploid to whatever your heart desires is also a very fun thing.

Cowboy Bebop: A wild universe a shattered earth multiple planets all sorts of things to do who wouldnt want to be in there?

The prince of tennis: Now i have a feeling about anyone who reads this is going to go WTF. But sports games are by far the easiest to turn into MMO's Especially solo sports like Tennis. The world used is modern you could get joint cooperation from the WTA allowing the opening for what only one or two MMO's go with (sponsorship) You'd have serious twitch based game play with a real challenge but holding broad based appeal to many older non gaming players and taking advantage of a solid anime.

DB/Z/GT: There is one currently in production but honestly its bastardized from what i have heard. This thing needs a massive budget and a company like bioware or someone else with strong credentials to bring the game to its full capablites.

Talking about anime, i would love to see a death note/detective type of game. Might not work great as a MMORPG but this is something bioware should make.

this would have been good IP for company like capcom to enter mmo market.

    *The Dark Tower

Sci-Fi, Western, and Modern . . . alll in one epic game

    *Twilight

Vampires vs Werewolves . . . and a lot of real girls would play  lol

    *Ultima Online

    Redone is 3d . . . but still Ultima

    *Avatar: The Last Airbender

The chance for some good combat based in an intersting world

    *GI Joe

Full Faction PvP with a lot of customability

     *Crimson Skies

Something like EVE, but you can get out of your plane and lead a normal MMORPG life, but in an alternate reality

I'd say something around the medieval / feudal age where people fought with swords, bows and shields, without all the fruity elves and gigantic love trees or multiple volcanoes, a believable environment for once. Probably still fantasy but to a small extent ;p.

I hate those worlds which overuse the term of "Fantasy", I wonder how a "light fantasy" game would turn out like.

lol would joke with other guilds. one day one my real life friends stopped by the catina and this was after joining my guild and i told him hey dude i found out where all the female star wars fans have been hiding. he said where. i'm like my guild is loaded with them. he didn't believe me till he joined us. and hear is the sad part i was in 3 different guilds before this one and in countless groups. the girls where more skilled in battle and in running the guild then the other male guilds and groups lol.

I'd like to see Valve develop a MMOFPS on the Half Life IP.

    4. D&D  (done correctly with an open explorable world to adventure in)

Agree with 1-4 and would even add in cyberpunk.

George A. Romero's "Dead" series would make a great sandbox mmorpg and you could even get a few expansions out of it. The game would start as the zombies are taking over. Find other survivors and build safeplaces to live, fight off the approaching zombies and or other survivors that are trying to kill you. Could even have quests to rescue people, gather supplies, for those that like quests. Crafting would be repairing/ improving guns or other makeshift weapons as ammo gets harder to find. Hell you could have farming, fishing and hunting as everyone needs food.

The first expansion could be set a few years after the outbreak. Supplies are getting scarce as are other living people. More and more zombies everywhere you go and they are starting to show signs of intellegence. The possibilities are endless. Could have some great pvp as everyone will be fighting for what little supplies are out there.

While I agree that a Romero style zombie survival game would be very cool, I will make the point that smart, fast, tool-using zombies aren't zombies anymore. They might as well be demons or aliens then.

Well, considering that I view my favorite IPs as "worlds" and not "games" to be rushed through to some "end-game" which is the current formula of making MMOs these days, I'd prefer my favorites didn't get made into an MMO.

When a developer comes along that wants to make a world sim then I'd like to see Shadowrun, Mechwarrior or a Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms MMO.

I don't really care for smart zombies either but it does go along with Romero's movies. You start seeing the smarter zombies in day of the Dead with "Bub" and then again in Land of the Dead with "Big Daddy".

Not an IP, but I want to see some mythological MMOs. Gods and Heroes was an awesome idea, IMO, and I would still love to see something like that.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

We all forget that making MMOs of the kind we dream about at night with our favorite IPs would be likely financially inviable or plainly impossible with the current technology.

I wonder if we'll live long enough for a "true" next-generation of MMOs, which may be not even called MMOs anymore, based no longer in a end-game grind for gear or other imaginary numbers that the current genre was dumbed down into and more of living a virtual "realistic" life within an IP.

Production was started in 2006. They haven't made a website for it specifically yet, though many believe that is coming very soon in the new year. It has been stated several times that 2010 was the target year so you may be in game around December 2010 or 1st or 2nd quarter 2011.

    Buffy the Vampire Slayer

    Deadlands

    Legend of the Five Rings

    Shadowrun

I'd really like to see any of those mad into an MMO but I think Shadowrun would have the most potential.
