Are there any games out there/coming down the pipe with housing/city building similar to Istaria/Darkfall/Mortal that are not those games? AoC would be interesting if it wasn't so horribly done from what I hear and more importantly if the game itself was tolerable. I'm expecting a resounding "no" because city/housing is the "feature that time forgot" in MMOs apparently, but might as well as its been a while.

Unfortunately tried those. Wurm was a little too java based and took forever to do anything (seriously, hours upon hours of mining the same rock to remove one square ;;). Ryzom was nice, but I tried going back once before and I just can't deal with the GUI, that and it's a bit unstable, closing down and coming back every other month /=.
I really wish more games had housing systems of any sort /=. I'd prefer city building, but i'd settle for basic housing right about now. Istaria would have been great, but its a bit too dated for me to get a fresh start on I think.

Anarchy Online is still one hell of a solid game. It's rather big on the social aspect, in addition to the standard RPG portion.
Endless Ages has something like it where players can even build cities out of player houses and player run shops, but as the feature is currently bugged, it's an RMT type thing.
Maybe Project Entropia?

Aion supposedly plans to implement it at some point. It was mentioned in that visions trailer they released a while back.
