Has there ever been any player balancing?

Rayx0rRayx0r Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,902

I played this game off and on since it was in its beta weekends phases, and for the life of me I never recall them ever having to do a class balance.

Does anyone know if theyve ever done any form of class balancing or even class nerfing?

ANet does skill balancing all of the time.

  • Dev_NightsDev_Nights Member Posts: 67

Yes, A-Net often does Player/skill blancing. One of their biggets changes to the game was when they nerfed Ursan Blessing which both pleased and annoyed many people. When a skill or certain build becomes too powerful in their eyes they go and decide to nerf a skill to make the build more challenging/impossible to use. There is talks that shadow form may have its entire skill revamped from base level as there are too many permaform builds at the moment.

Another thing that they have done is to seperate PvE skills from PvP skills. For example in PvE you want a quick/strong heal when you get swarmed by a large mob. On the other hand. if you are in PvP strong heals make the games last too long and become a massive tanking match until someone runs out of energy. To combat this instead of nerfing the heals in PvP and making it harder in PvE they decided to unlink the two and make it have better functionality in both circumstances.

However, they are also trying to improve some skills as they aren't used enough in PvP or PvE. One prime example is that there are now talks on buffing Hammer Mastery and Tactics for warriors.

Info about the buffing of Hammer and Tactics, and nerfing of Shadow Form from here.

actually im suprised that anyone does any damage at all anymore after all the nerfs they have done my paragon went from being a powerful lead toon to a side role toon and my mesmer went from a strong domination fighter to illusion back to domination again it may have been needed to avoid powers becoming to op but then on the other hand other toons seem to be op after the nerfs so its a back and forth thing

my cousin has a major complaint about his monk being nerfed into oblivion and making it almost unusable
