Free Games I'd Pay For

If these sites were free, I'd pay for them. However, the creators felt so strongly about making their sites free, that they are now free:

Linux - Operating system software for all computers, compatible with new technology.

Inverloch - A webcomic about a furry fantasy person who has to find an elusive Elf in order to help the girl he loves... While she wants to marry the Elf that he is helping her to find.

LinT - A webcomic about Elves. Do not worry - the art and story plot get much better after the first 50 pages!

Slightly Damned - A webcomic about a sort of squirrel fox cat person? She meets a fire-breathing demon who rescues a bunny, and then they have to save the world (or part of it).

Subspace Continuum - The most popular online free online spaceship shooter before Air Rivals (a.k.a. Space Cowboys). I recommend the Trench Wars server (or make your own mods).

Battle for Wesnoth - It's like... wesT + noRth, minus the 'RT' element of the RTS genre, producing... A real-time strategy game without the 'real-time' = wesnoth! (I do not think that this is how the creators named Wesnoth though);

Cosmic Supremacy - I liked this game because of its slow-paced micromanagement system which reminded me of 'Stars!' and 'Master of Orion'.

Land of Destiny - I am advertising this game on the Slightly Damned website atm, so yes - I do pay for it (but because I'm a GM). This is my advertising-link; the actual site is: www.LandOfDestiny.com

Forlorn Hope - I liked the old game a lot, until it went Gold, and renamed 'Lands of Hope'. This shouldn't exactly go on the list, since it's trial-based.

EVE - Ha, I would pay for this game except that it has two big issues. Firstly, I am scared of the scary avatars, which look ugly. Secondly, a very very small percentage of the game's users are female, which would not be a problem except for the fact that in all other spaceship games that I play, females are the strongest alliance leaders, and if they don't play a game, it's because they found reasons for quitting. (But mostly it is the scary in-game avatars.)

Google Chrome - Download now; it's a web browser.

Lost Saga - A cash-shop oriented game (unless you have fast reflexes). Pet peeve is that some players lag hard. I have payed for it, and have several heroes. My favorites are Fire Mage and Ice Mage!

Alteil - Pronounced "All-Tale", it's a battle-based trading card game... Minus the trading! Players can earn up to three cards per day (usually one), and in my opinion, it costs 1200 gran (the equivalent of $12) to get a good deck (or you can save up over three months). Players who have donated over $500 have, of course, better strategies, and you'll have to specifically tailor your deck in order to beat them. I enjoy the strategy that goes into the game, although in the end, it is all about which cards you have.

Google - My favourite website; people should use this more before ignoring things they don't understand. I use it as a dictionary, as a spellcheck, and sometimes (usually), when I want to find information!

P.S. I want BBCode!

Also check out Google Wave.

And I liked this site: World Food Programme.
