ps3 and pc play?

RoehonRoehon Member Posts: 44

I"m an old school FFXI player, I started on PS2 moved to PC and then over to 360. I'm just wondering if PS3 players and PC players will be on the same server? I''m thinking that it's going to be cheaper to get a PS3 then to get a new pc >.<

I'm still on the waiting list for the PC beta and hopefully get to try out this new adventure.....

If you have PC that can handle the specs or if your looking into upgrading your system to a new beefier one then you should only be looking at the PC.... if cost is a concern well computers especially desktops are pretty low on cost.

I know most MMO's are only PC game so, this could be also a new experience to try out on a console.  I saw the video of DC Online from Gametrailers, they  were using the Sony controller on the PS3 and it was pretty clean ( glossy eyes).

Do you want to play a MMO using a controller? instead of a mouse and keyboard.  I do know that Final Fantasy XIV for the PS3 will support keyboard and mouse functions, but are you limited to only bluetooth? I love bluetooth but , I'd rather be using my Razer products that are wired.

Will the game for the PS3 allow you to fully install it to the HDD, so you won't have to run off the disc and have long  loading sessions ( This has to be a must, deletes all demos just in case) ...

....for myself I can play either and hopefully I'll get to beta test on both systems, but I heard it looks like beta tests are currently only for PC, but I am excited to use a controller on this game,  I wonder if the PC will support controllers?

I choose PC , even though I'm sure it should be great on the PS3.

    Wildstar (2013) & Elder Scroll Online (2013)

    Playing: Diablo 3, WOW, Far Cry 3 & X-Com.

Enjoyed: WOW 5 1/2 yrs, LOTRO 3yrs, GW 1/2yr, DFO 1yr, EVE Online 3yrs, and Huxley (Beta).

Failed to impress: GW2 3months, Tera Online 6 months (best combat system in any MMO I've played) STO 1/4yr, Aion 1/2yr, AoC 1yr, CO, Fallen Earth, DDO, EQ2 1/2yr, WAR 1/2yr, Lineage 2 and FF XI 1/2yr, FF XIV.

If you just want to use a controller on a Windows PC, you can get a XBOX360 controller which works perfectly with Windows. Wired ones are cheaper than wireless, and they plug in via USB.

can't you use a USB keybored on the PS3?

and FFXI was full install on all platforms (ps2, pc and xbox 360) , it never ran off disc. I don't think this would be an issue for FFXiV .

as for controller use, it''s grate for the grind. Make hours of farming and leveling so much easyer

You can use a usb wired or wireless and a bluetooth keyboard on ps3.  All platforms will be on the same server.  If you have a old PC or trying to save some cash get a PS3.  If you have the cash to blow go ahead and upgrade your PC.

I think I'll start off on a PS3 and then get a gaming PC together over time, If FFXIV is anything like FFXI I'll be playing for years lol

I agree, for me PC = possible need for upgrades$$$

Considering you can get a PS3 for the price of  a good video card these days, my choice is simple =)

I will also be playing this game on the ps3 as my laptop I feel can not handle this game. Currently I can play Aion on it but its pretty slow.

Assuming tehy use the same paradime as FFXI, all systems will hae access to teh same servers. You will not know who is playing on what system unless they tell you.
