It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
If you don't know what I mean, go to the frontpage and checkout the slide show. Currently there is an award page and a top 5 PvP game list, these are examples of the literature I'm refering to for this poll.
I'm curious what the general population thinks, because most of the threads associated with staff picks and such are filled with disagrement from the posters.

Things that you're referencing? Hell no.
Top 5 lists? Generally they're fun to read, but I never thought it out enough to agree or disagree. =]
Check out the MUD I'm making!
If you want to be real nit picky i dno but in a general sense i think there quite fair, but its like how wow won game of the decade and it well deserved it but people disagree but in the end it's racking in money and very successful.
I'm not sure if you can include the top 5 list of pvp mmo's in this, that is just the opinion of one guest writer. The actual awards that MMORPG.COM gave I have no real problem with. What I think might be interesting is to get a collection of all the gaming websites awards. You'd have more of a clearer picture of an accurate award; well at least you have a much bigger sample size on opinions at any rate.
It's all based on opinion really. Some I do, but some I don''t.

In general I think they make decent choices, but I won't agree with them all as I have different tastes than others. Two awards recently have led to hundreds of posts attacking and defending whether the awards wa deserved or not. When it comes to the WoW winning game od the decade I would say it shouldn't get it, but I would say it would have MMO of the decade because of the acomplishments. Its not everyones favorite game, but a lot of people enjoy it and it has grown to be a pollished game.
The other big debate was the Aion wining MMO of the year, and that one I did agree with. I have not played the game, but from everything I have read it did seem to be the most sucessful and most well polished MMO released this year. The fact that people do not agree with everything is what makes these forums interesting, if not a bit hateful. I don't think anyone would argue againt that if we all felt the same way, these would be very boring forums to read.
No, but the site's focus is on a broad spectrum of the genre where as my interest is with a couple niche corners of it. Additionally they've probably play tested enough of the games to form an opinion of them where I haven't.
As to why people waste their time arguing about someone else's opinion, who knows? Lack of nookie probably.

I'll will keep this short, basically in the long run, no i don't, but i agree with about maybe 35-40% of them.
NO i dont agree with you 100%
Key words here buddy.. "Staff Picks"
Do I accept it? yup.
Do I respect it? yup.
Do I agree with it? I don't really know that it at all matters. These are picks based on the "Staff's" collective thought of reasoning and motivation. It's not the "players choice" awards. I read them pretty much as I read ANY review. With a grain of salt. If there is something described within their/its context that motivates me to tryout, demo or play thier choice then the decision to agree or disagree becomes easier. Whether you or anybody else likes the choices, or even agrees with the choices is mute. Since when is your choice better or "righter" (yes I know.. the word) that you or anybody else should dictate different.
Even if this was "readers choice" or "players choice" awards you would still get the nits who would say What! What! Whaaaat!?.
comical.

I haven't looked at the results(can't find them). Its probably the same as every single year. EVE wins every category. I'd be surprised if it didn't win most anticipated game of 2010. This site has had a huge hard-on for EVE for years.
I wonder how long it takes for an EVE fanboi to call me a WoW player...(you either play EVE or play WoW apparently)
