It depends on what you like and quite honestly - How open minded you are.

The game is still in beta, and still very far from being anywhere near completion. Even if they do release this game soon, it may take them many months to ever actually get close to what I might call a "complete" game.

If you like games like WoW, Aion, Guild Wars, and so many others that take you and hold you by the hand, then this game is most likely not for you at all.

There is not going to be NPCs with golden explanation marks and gold question marks over their head to show you the way and/or give you quests and goodies.

There is not gonna be instances or "safe zones". People can attack or rob you anywhere, anytime. Don't whine and cry when someone thieves your best sword you just spent 4 hours gathering resources for and crafting.

When you die, you won't have all your crap on you when you resurrect. It's likely long gone. Live with it.

There's no "leveling up". No blue flashing light around your character when he advances in level. There's no trainers to train up some stupid special skill tree.

If you like a pretty much empty world, where you can go anywhere and do anything your imagination allows, then you might just like Mortal Online. Just remember that this is not like a "God of War" game where there is non-stop smooth, fluid action put in front of you non-stop either. Your fun will mostly come from your imagination and willingness to play a game that gives you a clean slate and a empty world to explore within.

    It's up to you really.

But again, it's a patchwork in progress and most of the intended features are still not in and/or not complete yet.

Thanks for the response...to be honest...I'm not the biggest fan of any MMO...no MMO I've played has ever given me what I want from an MMO...though I do enjoy some of the MMOs I play, I get bored with their repetitiveness and simplicity...

I think I am going to give Mortal a try...I have been wanting to play something that can give me a bit of a challenge and allow me to be me in the game, not some predetermined clone of a character...

Um...one more question...how big is the game world?...I mean is it large enough to provide many hours of exploration without seeing too much of the same stuff?

It's pretty big. I haven't even touched seeing all of it yet.

But also keep in mind that most of it is empty with a few horses, gazelle, aggressive buffalo type animals, pigs, and weasels scattered around.

I guess you could play it and just pretend that any players you want to attack or whom attack you are the boss mobs, hehe.

Good luck if you buy it, and hope you enjoy it because you'll probably either like it or absolutely hate it.

Well...It'll be a lot different than anything on the market now, so either way it should be interesting...I'd rather kill players than mobs anyway haha...really all I want is a big world to explore...I'm kind of an MMO sightseer of sorts...

They added sators and ratmen but you have to go looking for them, they have no loot tho :(

The reason why most of comments in this forum are negative is that it's full of DF fanboys who just troll. You definetly should check MO official forum or some other to get some real advices. No1 who has actually played the game won't take this forum seriously because low quality of posts, even most of troll threads are bad.

Zaxtor gave a good summary of what MO is about.  As of 3 weeks ago i don't even play it.  The world is quite desolate, I really tried to enjoy myself but it was hard.  I think i need to join a guild or something because i felt quite alone, my horse was a fine companion but he doesn't talk :(

I would wait for the open beta and see what its about for free, its only a couple weeks away and the game is really laggy and unstable right now since a big patch came in.

plz, if you don't play don't spread rumors, the lag and stability is fixed, game has been up for 3 days straight without a crash, and no lag at all.

    OMG 3 WHOLE DAYS???!?!?!?!

Seriously 3 days isn't brag worthy at this juncture. When there even remotely considering a launch date the server staying up without crashing on a regular basis should be a given. The fact that you could only say "games been up for 3 days without a crash..."  is bad news.

I think the rather obvious point (to those that have actually played the game or have bothered to read) is that the game was stable but recently they patched just before christmas and it bought with it a poor server stability etc. The dev team at this jucture all buggered off for holidays leaving many poeple rightly pissed off. This is the stability problem being refered to and having been fixed.

See that took all of 5 minutes research.

for me i had orignaly planed to play this. i had been looking for a open world game. then they added theivery and i said no i wont buy. why would i want to play it when someone can come up and just steal all u have after spending so much time gettting it. its one thing to get killed and it taken but  with adding stealing as a skill u gonna have large group of people just stealing dong nothing else.

so for me till they put out more info on how stealing is gonna work ala timer, success chance, exactly if worn items can be stole, if u get wsay a enchant to protect items till that info comes out i dont even consider MO a game just a greifer hotel

I couldnt agree more. Thievery in its current form is a joke.

I'm glad Aventurine left it out of their game

And there will be much more land added. This is like 1/5 or 1/6 of the first continent. So, there wil be much to explore in the future ;o)

I recall Shadowbane had Thievery and it was implemented pretty well, so its possible to make it a viable career in an MMORPG.  Perhaps SV will be able to reach the same balance.

My advice: Never preorder a game. Wait until it releases and see how it goes. there is no rush to buy a game you know almost nothing about. The truth is that the game is not finished yet, they have an awesome game design but they havent finished it so why rushing buying a game that is not finished yet?.

Yea that is definitely bad news. I seriously doubt there are more than 5k people playing the game now, if that.. Imagine how bad the server stability will be when MO launches... It's going to be a nightmare. Anyone who thinks AV can pull a few miracles out of their az,,errr,, buttocks then you are very nieve and stupid..  Judging by all the negative posts regarding how the game is at its current state, there's no way MO is even near ready to be released.. I've beta tested MMO's in the past like EQ2, Shadowbane, DAOC, WAR, AoC, and even Vanguard up to a year before being released and all of those MMO's had much much more content in their game 6 months to a year before release than MO currently has available now.. And it's due to launch in a couple weeks?? LOL  wow,..... Anyone who buys the game now after knowing how it is at its current state is a fool. Your better off taking your 50-100 dollars and burning it to keep yourself warm.. At least you'll get more use out of your money by burning it than buying this 25% complete alpha stage,,,,,, game.

The world of warcraft servers went down on a regular basis for the first six months of the game. I started playing wow in april '05 and i've received over 30 days of free gametime because of the servers being down or being unplayable due to lag (most of this in '05 and early '06). And concidering their comparable budget and experience i have to say SV are doing pretty good. WoW is now considered to be the most stable and polished of all MMOs on the market.

SV still has some time to fix things.
