Every MMORPG is subject to release pressure from the publisher, I don't think there has been a smooth MMO launch in history of MMO's, so the short answer is yes.

However, the game looks really promising and I hope the people give the developers some time and not throw in the towel on them too soon, they seem like they're sincere when they talk about adding features into the game and not having time to do it. I do think that over time they will slowly make a so far "good" game into an "awesome" game, it certainly has the potential in my opinion,

Most every game is rushed out the door, specially MMOs. Some will launch more polished than others, but there has yet to be a game that didnt launch with some medium to severe bugs/issues.

Most games are rushed due to publisher demands and financial reasons. Most publishers want a game out by X date and believe in the 'Push now, Patch later' philosophy.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Closed beta started..  the end of October. One can assume a variety of changes had to be made as the players vision and the devs probably conflicted.  Half of December was pretty much a holiday. Generally closed beta also doesn't have servers up 24/7 ..so yeah I tihnk it's safe to say it's being rushed.

Why would you play Star Trek Online, in which the "quests" are being paced in a way similar to episodes from the show, if you find Star Trek boring? Save your money and buy a different game, man!

Well, watching the show was boring...but the gameplay looks fun...and what makes any game fun is gameplay, not the lore it was based off of...

Perhaps "playing" the Star Trek IP will be more fun than watching it.

Is the game being rushed? Maybe, but what game isn't? Also, if anyone can do it, Cryptic can. They seem to be able to iterate on things quite fast, especially content and patches.

I can say this though, gameplay is definately fun. People forget that's what these games are supposed to be about.

This is a very good point.. Star Trek means so many things to so many different people and each of them have their favorite versions. TNG was probably the most successful and naturally many expect their star trek experience to mimic that. For gameplay purposes I just don't see that type of vision working in a MMORPG. Maybe as a niche single player game that you only pay for once EG: Birth of the Federation. But not one where people are forced to fork over money on a monthly basis.

As to the OP, I've seen the BETA footage and the space parts look VERY good. I still have some concessions on the ground part, specifically the behavior and weakness of the Borg. But overall I can't wait.

    Currently Playing: World of Warcraft
