As title says, those who played in Beta just what your thoughts(within NDA) just liked it etc...
my response "OMG I GET ALL THIS FOR FREE ALREADY!!!" I was quite happy even with the crashes(which was expected)

Beyond the server going up and down there for quite awhile I am very impressed with the game-play and with how smooth it ran. Sure there was the odd lag spike but it barely made a difference in my healing ability as a medic and no one ever died to one. I had a group of four people and we played pve the whole night except for the last mission we tried pvp.
We had every class of the game in our four man group, and we found it to be a well balanced choice since I would recommend the setup class-wise to anyone for pve. As a group we were able to do mediums right from the start and only lost our bonus perhaps five times out of the many missions we did. The maps are varied enough for me for now, though without added content soon after launch pve will get old fast.
pvp we only tried one time before the server went down, we lost. The experience is completely different and we soon found out why people horde to certain classes. As a medic I found it hard to keep anyone alive, but I just need to get use to it.
Overall great first impression, I look forward to paying the sub for this game... been a long time since I said that.

game is an absolute blast. got about 4 hours of gaming in tonight. im also pleasantly surprised at how well it runs on my laptop.
as for there being many recons... i actually think youre wrong on this one. class population is very nicely spread out. tonight i saw mostly robotics and assaults. recons close third. least medics. this makes sense though. recons to me are like bread and butter (dps and disruption), while the other 3 classes are more specialized. overall, classes are nicely balanced even at low levels.
guess it just isnt your cup of tea. i enjoyed the pve very much. it's actually quite challenging and there's lots of variation in the encounters. bosses are badass, and even all the different adds have interesting abilities. WoW is probably the king of pve right now, and having played it for over 3 years (done most raids) i can safely say it's garbage compared to GA. thing that makes GA's pve awesome is your physical engagement with your character, i.e. the aiming, dodging, etc. there arent a lot of cooldowns, but each one is extremely useful when activated.
while i enjoyed the pve, the different pvp scenarios were 10fold more fun. definitely reminded me lots of tf2 but with a lot more depth. imho, thats a success. and i havent even tried AvA and mech escort missions.
This is what everyone thinks when they first try it. When everyone in my clan first started in cb I bet you 3/4's were recon but as you lvl higher most of those found that they prefered other classes with various specs. Part of the reason you see so many recons at low lvls, at first is they are one of the stronger out the gate first 10 lvls class as well, which means they seem really strong, especially if they know how to melee but at the higher lvls I found these things to be true(this means lvl 20 to 30).
First the assult doesn't come in to their own til lvl 20 and up, this means many will think they are weaker and not choose them out the gate, trust me they become MUCH better later on.
For whatever reason robotics has never been as popular as some of the other classes but in some modes they are VERY powerful and they are essential in a team game at choke points etc.
Medics are really good when it comes to variety my build: semi rifle lvl 3, poision wave lvl 4, heal grenade lvl 2, regen lvl 2. I'm spec'd into melee 2 skill points and 1 point into all around energy conservation. The build is amazing, i use the biofeedback gun which means I can heal and sap health for myself with alt fire and truly allows me to survive, dps and heal all at once.
That is a melee/poison build at lvl 11 just to show variety of game.
As people get more experience the number of recons will go down but it is definitely a popular class regardless.
thats sounds hella fun. you know, i originally wanted to lvl a robotics main, but i think im gonna stick to medic and snipecon; these two are basically jacks of all trades, lots of variety in the gameplay.
I noticed the recon problem as well actually. But that isn't because of this game.
For some reason, in EVERY SINGLE MMORPG OR FPS everyone likes playing the pussy-ass Assassin/Sniper class. Back in vanilla WoW, Rogues were overpopulated. In CS, there were maps made specifically for AWP users. TF2, servers had to lock down the amount of Snipers on each team because on certain maps (2fort) you'd have half your team as USELESS snipers. I'd go on but...
It isn't until people start realizing that the class isn't OP or that headshots don't mean shit in this game that they will switch out -_-
I thoroughly enjoyed playing and would have kept going all night. It does have some nice PvE that gets increasingly more difficult and I enjoyed the assault class. Tomorrow will be medic. Looking forward to paying for the sub and enjoying the fullness of the game mechanics. FPS with crafting and char development - yes please. I expect to play this until FF14/Starcraft 2.
this is true. but recons really arent OP or anything. sure, they're sort of the poster-class of GA....everyone wants to be Snake, or that guy from Crysis or a ninja, but other classes are equally good in pvp.
Funny someone else felt it... gameplay screamed Fury to me, too. Looking forward to getting a feel for each of the classes.
Well he was bring up Fury in a negative light.
In a positive light, yes, GA somewhat of a Fury feel to it. Except it's designed much better and the classes are pretty balanced.
Plus the PvE. Which actually provides a nice challenge if you play beyond the first, easy crappy one. The medium-security zone instances are a lot harder. The light-security are just for people to warm up in a team environment, nothing else.
Probably because Fury was made in unreal engine as well. I never played GA yet but I dont see how GA's mechanics of running, dodging, aiming, etc, could be compared to a game that used targeting attack systems?
Difference is, Fury looked like crap and ran even worse even on high spec systems, was horridly balanced, had far too many skills that did the same thing instead of variety, encouraged buying gold/skills with a retarded subscription plan, and tried to make major revisions after the game was released which made the game worse instead of better with each huge revision.
Sad part is I had some good fights in Fury - but the team running the game failed horribly in so many areas.
I hope GA's subscription plan doesnt fail like Furys, or HG:L's. Those could have grown in to decent games with the right game design decisions and/or development time needed.
Well I got as far as making a robotics guys (in hindsight i spent far too long making him), cool little intro sequence too. Got as far as putting the jet pack on and then servers went offline again so I called it a night as it was 1am.
Got 8 hours till the servers are back online =(
Actually, this is probably the reason I won't end up playing Recon. I wanted to build a long-range sniper specialist but the lack of headshots ruins it for me. I found myself essentially spamming lasers from long range, which isn't at all what I wanted to do.
I can kinda understand the reason behind eliminating one-shot kills in this type of game, but it also breaks the immersion for me. The way long-range recons look to me after playing last night, you'll have an advantage in range, but your ability to aim at moving targets won't matter nearly as much since you'll just be spamming your laser.

The reason I started this forum , was to get peoples opinions. There were a few posts of people that wanted more info on the game(granted you can't give too much b/c NDA) But seeing as the general experience was enjoyable. That allows people to see this(maybe even see more people on now)

Although I agree insta-gib headshots are a no no, one one likes being 2 shooted in WoW or any other MMO so 1 shooted is no fun. I would like headshots (with sniper rifes) to exisit in GA but instead of doing damage it causes the players armour to "short out", for example if hes jet packing his gear kinda gets hit with feedback electricty and he falls from the sky (fall damage) and gets stunned for a few seconds... almost like a CC.

That's a great suggestion. I posted on the beta forums and suggestions adding a head hit box and a damage modifier like 150% damage. If you don't mind I'll add your suggestion to my post on the beta forums.

I felt it ran pretty smoothly for me with my graphics at Medium. I cannot wait till they are back up and get to have some real time at trying it(I understand crashes happen).Medic and Assault were fun and seeing that balance was pretty spot on was nice to see,
My Handle is Fliance in game if anyone needs Assault in game. Hope to see you guys in there!!

Sure.
Coffee: Added your suggestion to my post on the beta forums.
Pengy: I agree. I was running GA at about 75% settings and had absolutely no issues with graphics lag that I could see. I plan to max out all settings tonight and see how it goes.
BTW, I got a little off-topic w/ my sniping rant, but overall I have to say I enjoyed my time in GA last night immensely. The funny thing is I wanted to test out the PvE, but ended up playing PvP the entire night. I'm not normally a huge PvP fan, but this game is different enough from other games to present a fun challenge w/o the constant feeling of "geez I suck" when you get gibbed.
There's tons of room to customize your character - which will have a huge impact on how you will play most effectively - but there aren't so many skills across your screen that it's overwhelming. I'm really impressed so far. I can see where spending time w/ one particular "build" or "set-up" will really give you the upper hand over someone who's always changing it up.

Well...lets been perfectly honest guys, when the 3 following games come out, I wouldn't be surprised if people doubled subscribed (because this will be the BEST MMO with PvP that exists) or just down right quit (what most people will do)
Final Fantasy XIV
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Any of these 3 monster titles coming out, maybe even including StarCraft 2, will take away from this game's population. But meh..I prefer PvP over PVE any day.
