Hi,
I just installed the 14days trial yesterday and gave EVE a shot.
So far, I'm really loving it. It's not a very "intuitive" game, but that's how I like my mmos (when you learn something new every time you log, etc.).
My only problem with the game, is I get "Socket Closed" messages and get booted quite frequently. Some times, when I log back in, I also get stuck at the character loading progress bar, and I have to kill the Eve Process manually and try again.
I played the Crash Course without any issues, but after that, I had probably 20 (if not more) crashes just while I was doing the 1st five missions of the industry career agent.
Anyways, since I don't seem to be able to post on EVE forums (and that this issue has a 40pages thread without anything that solved my problem), I decided to post here and ask you guys. Is there something I have to do? Set port forwarding for specific ports on my router? Disable something in the configs? Anything, I'm begging you !?!?!
I really like what I have experienced of the game so far, but I can't imagine being afraid to crash every time I go out on a mission.. well.. if it was just occasional, I would'nt really mind, but if it's going to happen every 2 to 5 min.. I don't think I will have the patience to go through the login screen 100 times a day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The error basically means, the client is sending commands, but the connection was closed at the server side ... or at least that is what the client thinks. Could be several issues.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Yes, I tried 1 and 2, but still get this.
I have`nt tried with the modem plugged directly in my PC yet though, maybe I`ll try that later (maybe it`s the router?).
For 3, I don`t have that collision light.
It started to happen during US East Coast prime time (8pm+) yesterday. Before that (played from 5 to 6:30pm), all was smooth..
Maybe I'm not the only one who thought of trying and they have issues because there's too many people ?!
Anyways..
I just wanted to make sure there was not a detail or some undocumented setup or config I missed. Does'nt seem to be the case sadly. I'll monitor the official forums, hoping they find something eventually!
Thanks for your help!
There is a 45 page post on the EVE forums in the issues&workaround section as well as a few others threads they have several fixes for several conflict errors with specific hardware configurations.
Thanks!
Yes, I read most of them, and I spent most of yesterday trying those that I could do by myself. It seems to be worse when there are a lot of players connected... so I don't really know what to think about this.
I tried starting a new character, and during the crash course, I did`nt have any issues at all.. I even kept the game on while AFK for an hour+ and came back and it was still connected. As soon as I finished and got out of station to go to the other Agents (job trainers), I got kicked.. maybe it`s just a coincidence, but it was the same thing with the 1st char (went through the crash course without any issue).
I ran the ping plotter thing and got a lot of packet loss (90%) at the CCP hops (13th in the trace from my place to there). The rest seems fine. I ran the same thing on other sites like google.com,etc. and I don`t get packet loss.. But I don`t really know how to analyze this data...
I would love to be able to post and get some more feedback on the official forums, but at the same time, I'm not sure I want to spend the dollars since CCP don`t seem to bother with this issue (even though some people have problems for a long long time). They just say it`s on our side (and maybe they are right.. but why is everything fine with all other games...?!). I just wish they would use the same ports as other games, making sure ISPs,etc. don`t do anything special with them (or else face the ire of a lot more players).
Anyways, I petition for this and got the usual "automated" reply. I'll see how it goes from there. I really love the game and I can endure a lot of problems when I like a game that much (I played Vanguard a while at release.. that should say how much I can endure! ), but trying to Pod Scan with constant disconnect (and having to restart every time) is unbearable.
Thanks for your time and advice!
I`ll try to update this thread if I end up with a solution (for eventual noobs like me who end up with the same problem).
