Ideas on if there will be housing and guild halls?  I love non-instanced housing and guild halls with Vanguard and also the crafting and harvesting efforts needed to complete such a task.

I don't see why they'd drop that feature from FFXIV, although I don't see them implementing it in a non-instanced way.

The houses might be bigger though, and who knows about the guild halls- if it serves some kind of purpose, they could add that feature. They kinda played with that idea in XI but there hasn't been anything concrete yet. Perhaps they'll do it now.

I'm a complete newb to the FF franchise, it's nice to hear they have housing in the current verison.  Houses are nice in VG, many types, non-instanced, extremely flexible to decorate.  However, I had always hoped for more with regard to guild halls, they are massive, gorgeous and provide certain benefits to the guild, as well as a place to put trophies (and a dragon head).  But the hope was for more crafting and diplomacy utility..... even a crafting wind within the guild hall.

Hopefully FFXIV can improve on those concepts.

The predecessor to XIV, XI, had small houses you could decoriate with pretty much anything and it served as a place to garden and the furniture was not just for looks, it offered some nice bonuses as well.

It was probably due to the Playstation 2 limitations as to why the houses were instanced and so small in that game (or its the JP tradition?!), but at least the platform won't be an issue anymore, if they decide to build upon the system of XI.

I'd still think that Vanguard does the whole housing thing better though, having the huge guild halls and all, but it'll be available in XIV regardless.
