Hi All,
I am part of a game research team at Teachers College, Columbia Unv., NY. We are conducting a survey as part of a study on customization and its effect on player motivation and enjoyment. This survey is conducted entirely for academic research purposes, and it is not affiliated with Turbine. If you would like to fill out the survey please copy and paste the related link provided below (the forum does not let me post a link so I just put down the part of after www). Also, there is more information and a consent form that you can read before you start to fill out the survey.

Thank you Parmele. I just find survey studies conducted with players of different experiences very informative. If someone had asked me 4 years back what I thought about surveys, I would say this is not a good way of research. I was a pure math student back then. Anyway... I don't think that way any more, at least for well designed ones. I am not saying my survey is well designed, but it has hours of work, and I am a student, so I learn to do better each time. So, if you have any feedback, I will be happy to hear. This survey is one of three parts of my pilot study. Aside from Lotro, we conduct it for different games that we have played (DDO, CoX, WoW etc.). The other two parts of the study consist of assessing level of control (and more specifically customization) players can have in MMOGs and a lab research where I can control the level of customization and assess players motivation, enjoyment and engagement when playing given game(s).
