I found out a few hours a go there were a free trial, so i dl it and have played a few hours now.
The last year i have only played Darkfall, so to play something not FFAPvP is very relaxing. The closest MMO i can think of is SWG, wich is a good sign.
But so far its very straithforward, you pick up quest, do it, return for the next and so on. The combat system is something i like. you need to watch the screen (atlest i have to) when you fight. Dont like the fact that you get wounded even if the mob is 10 meters away with a knife!
I play from Sweden (EU) and have not had any problems. Since i have only played a few hours i cant say to much about all the stuff im eager to try out. I have not talked any other player yet : ( Everyone seems just doing thier quests, hope i get some friends soon.
But so far i like the game.

Open up the /help channel, I too wish for a global channel, tho region does work better or is more active in S2, the /help channel is where it's at in S1 (Sector 1) I am the PM(privatemessage) helper as often either questions/answers get lost in the busy /help channel.
Glad you are enjoying the game, so am I
just started playing myself so thats good information to know .. grouping/team based games tend to be more fun than the solo thing..
When my husband and I came across this game and saw the 10 day free trial, we DL'd and tried the game out. I have never subbed to a game so quickly from a trial before! 24 hours after starting the trial, we bought the game. A little note here, the first billing notated on the account includes the remaining trial time and the free 30 days... I was amazed! How many other games keep the clock for your trial time and not begin the free time after a trial would end?
Anyway, the Help channel can be rather busy and once you reach the cutoff level, chat can seem rather empty. However, I see people start up conversations all the time in Region, especially in Sector 2. Personally, I've enjoyed the peaceful game and not having spam all of the time while I'm playing.
Character customization is limited in that you can only pick from a number of face styles, however there are piercings, tattoos and face paint to separate you from others. There are also body tattoos, limited selections, but still, it's fun (well, until the tattoos on my legs became very visible in a skirt I got as a reward LOL).
Crafting is amazing! Sure, you can park yourself to craft in the appropriate facilities (Science building for science crafts, etc.) which will cut your craft time down, but it's not necessary! For me, I get my materials in my inventory and set a bunch of stuff to be crafted and off I go to quest or explore. The crafting also continues while you're offline, which is totally cool. Some items take many hours to craft (vehicles and their components) so you just set those before you log off for the night and in the morning, voila, your items are done.
The only issue I had with the game was my first character's stats were totally messed up. At this point, there are no re-specs available so you have to know what you want to do with your character from pretty early on in the game. You gain APs through everything you do (harvesting, hunting, crafting, questing), but there is still a cap on how many you'll earn for your character.
All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone and everyone. There is a FPS feel to it with the targeting, but I've quickly adapted and enjoy having to pay attention to kill stuff. No more sit in the back, target and just nuke away. You have to keep the mob in the crosshairs or you miss. Sure, not everyone will like that, but I'm not an FPS player, have always hated them, and yet I love this game.
Well, my quick post got a bit longer than I had wanted, but I hope that what I wrote helps others decide to at least check out the trial. It's 10 days, you can go to level 10 and they don't even ask for your CC information unless you upgrade. Pretty nice arrangement IMO.
Edited to fix a typo - did I find them all?
You can manually rejoin the help channel if you wish - the cutoff level just removes the autojoin function
Question about advancement. Do I have to do the quests to level up? How else do you get AP?
You can get APs from just fighting critters and baddies, by crafting and by doing missions. The thing is, you can get extra APs by doing all the storyline missions that are found throughout the sectors... so if you want to acquire every AP in the game for your character, eventually you will have to do all those missions... but no, you don't really have to do a single mission to "level up".

It totaly depends on the patience of the player, the AP mission ONLY grants you quicker AP, as you said you gain AP % with almost anything you do in game, so for the patience players among us we will also gain all AP the game has to offer, granted it will take much....much longer then when doing the specific AP mission. Thats is all the AP only mission do actually, faster AP.
My main has actualy stopped doing quest all togther for the time being, reason I gain to much XP and/or AP from the missions and don't want to speed up my lvling progress aswell try to stay in limits within the area's lvl's I am in.
Just had to say that, incase some people might really think that the AP only missions are the only way to get ALL AP the game has to offer.
