What I love is that this is a rumor with only loose concept ideas and yet people are already making judgements about it.
Im also pretty sure if the rumor in question made no mention of Blizzard at all there would be more excited enthusiasm and less trepidation or disdain. I mean news of an MMOFPS with sandbox social elements from a high profile developer/publisher should have people hyped.
The more I think about it the more it sounds something like battle.net. In Battle.net we had a chat(social area) to strategize and just hang out and if we wanted to play we would just go make a game. I say this will be a mmorts instead since Blizzard has literally no experience on a mmofps.

Well I hope it is an MMORTS, Blizzard are amoung the best at RTS and MMO so its a good mix.
I would not mind a lobby based MMORTS as long as its in a persistant world, when I log off my team/guild/race have contorl of 8 zones get up in the morning anf we lost 2 of them etc.
Ill laugh so hard when it shuts down after 6 months
Well considering Blizzard has never made a bad game and every single one of their games is still being played today... I think it'll be an even bigger success than WoW.
Based on Blizzard's track record i have little doubt they can pull this off. I really enjoyed Warcraft, Diablo, and WoW. Even though I don't currently play any Blizzard games I look forward to their next release. I even like the concept with this being part social, part game. I don't have much interest in social network sites, and many of my friends don't have interest in online gaming. With this platform maybe we can connect in different ways.
Also, imagine someone makes a stupid comment on the social side, so you hunt them down in-game and own face. Who doesn't like that?
a futuristic game unlike World of Warcraft with fps elements
*cough* StarcraftGhost(something) *cough*
but seriously, it's good that they are 1. tackling a niche genre (currently) 2. tackling the sci-fi market (fairly week currently) and 3. not using a tried and tested IP.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
maybe it's a starcraft mmofps. they did say future like fps.
Bliz has gone out of their way to state, over and over again, that it will not be based on an existing IP (so they'll take StarCraft and rename it space-craft or something)
Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed. Current mmo's grouping: tinder. swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.
Anything Blizzard does I am interested in and will likely play at some point in time. The fact is that they make quality games with tons of blood, sweat, and tears poured into them and the result is always a polished game with soul. Whether I like the direction or not I think I am sure to get 50-60$ out of anything they put out.
I would most likely not be interested in an MMOFPS, but I'd have to get more info before I made a solid decision.
That being said, it makes sense as those who play WoW wouldn't necessarily automatically abandon it for something that isn't an RPG, that way they don't cut into their own market share.
Will be interesting to say the least!
Current games: WoW, Runes of Magic Past games: WAR, DDO, Fiesta, AoC, Rohan, Dungeon Runners, Free Realms, Tabula Rasa, LoTRO
I'm too a bit hesitant. They mix many things together, social, fps. Nevertheless, i trust blizzard and probably they will do fine. I just hope it will be my kind of tea :P

Pont taken, hijacker.
Or was your post relevant to the subject? :-p

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much

I would like to see them do a big budget version of a NeoCron type game. Bladerunner style has yet to be done right and exploited like fantasy.
To err is human....to play is divine

lol I would bet so much money against it.
World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around.

World of SimCraft ftw...?
-.-;
Well... I didn't think Diablo would do so good...
here's to hoping I am wrong about this one too... =/
"There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain."
Blizzard is probably trying to get Starcraft online out before warhammer 40k online comes out.

Bring on a MMOFPS from them. Sounds great to me.

Can't wait for Blizzard's Titan MMO!
