Can you get AIDS from Sex even when using a Condom properly?

tro44_1tro44_1 Member Posts: 1,819

Anybody wonder about this?

Seems strange that the AIDS rate is growing, yet it so easy to wear a condom.

So this got me wondering. Can a Male/Female get AIDS from Sex even if they are using proper Sex Protection?

Idk about females, but males can still get any STD from sex if they use a condom.

    Drippage.

I'm not going into details because it'd probably be pushing the rules of this forum, but if you can't get what I mean from that one word, then you really don't need to worry about it anyway.

    Can't.

I used to take showers as soon as possible, before I got married though. I read it helps, but idk, I never got anything.

ya definitely.  If you read any package of condoms they usually say  "if used properly, can reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS".  So even used properly, theres still chance you can contract it.

if you're starting to become sexually active, do some research outside of this forum (for the love of all that is holy) about how STD's and HIV is passed.

You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Incase you don't understand that analogy, most people just don't want to wear condoms, or are just drunk/stoned/uneducated therefore won't be using one at the time.

there is no guarantee that you wont get AIDS even if you don't have sex. There is ways to minimize your risk but you can never remove the likelihood to none at all.

One thing that is not so frequently mentioned is that men have very low odds of contracting HIV through vaginal intercourse. I have seen the figure "1 in 200" as the odds of infection, given that the female is infected.    This is without a condom.  Normally you think of sex with an HIV infected woman as very risky, eh?  But with only 0.5% odds of infection, most of us have probably taken worse risks in our lives.    With a condom I would imagine that the risk is lowered by a factor of 10 or 100.

Are you sleeping with someone you know has HIV/AIDS?  If not, then logically there's nothing to catch.

I dont know. Thats the problem. Iam scared, because iam from DC,,, you know,, AIDS CAPITAL USA a few years ago. She not from DC, but still close.

Makes me a bit nervous. Would like to have sexual intercourse, but still fear is there. Even when I do everything perfectly with Condoms and protection, stats show men can still get it from Sex from what I hear so far.

Lol just ask her if she has any diseases? I dno why your scared, its pretty normal to ask just for safety especially now because of the increasing rate of these type of things.

The best would be to have sex only with those you know and have it safely. (although the really best way to prevent aids is not to have sex at all ^^)

sexual health is an important issue when you become sexually active. AIDS is probably low on the list of worries as you are most likely to contract something else which can still make your life a misery.

If you are developing a relationship where you are trusting enough to have sex, you can build on that trust further by by talking about your sexual health concerns. You can then both easily get tested for STDs.

This is not an accusation of immorality or a statement of distrust, it is a simple recognition that people can contract STDs (even by non sexual means) and not go diagnosed for a long time. It would be in both your interests to find out more information and show that you care enough about your own health as well as that of your partners.

Find a good sexual health clinic and get some good advice. Get tested. Talk about your concerns with your partner.

Your fear seems ill-placed, is your friend some massive slut or something?

Why you have to fear about sexual disseases? You have to ask her if she hasn't be sick or something like that (you need to find a way without being very explicit) cause trust  is the base of relationships .

I find being blunt both the best way to accomplish things, and so very delightful compared to the politically correct shit we have to put up with all day.

What he said.  I found that being politically correct and dancing around the subject never really got me as far as being blunt and just asking what I wanted to know.  Then again, I've been blunt for the better part of the last 10 years so I might be used to it.

The best way to prevent the spread of STD's is to have mutal blood tests and wait for the results, however, AIDS can give false negatives for quite some time before testing postive in some situations. Often 6 months after the date of infection before it gives a positive on a test. Even Oral sex can transmit STD's so do not assume you are clean because you only have had Oral sex.  Be with a partner that cares as much about their health and their life as you do.  Mutual monogomous sex with one long term partner after proper blood tests is the safest way to prevent the spread of STD's. Condoms are not 100% safe.   They just minimize the risk.   If used properly you should be OK.  If not, then you risk catching any number of STD's - including AID's causing virus HIV.
