I guess everyone who has played Warhammer before would agreed you have had fun before, at least before T4.
But AION has no fun at all. The PVP could be the most boring one in any mmorpg.
The only way to go to the opponent's zone is go through a portal, they called it Rift. Rift respawns at random location on your map. And who is going to running all around and kill the entire mobs just to find where the godam rift is. It is greatly reduced the opportunity for PVP because its too stupid design.
The game is full of conflicts in its own design. The game selling so good just because people not satisfied with AOC and Warhammer. But the result is just as the OP described as topic.
Warhammer was hard for me to give up on. Played it two months hoping for some improvement which didnt occur. On the other hand 3 days of Aion in OB was enough to know I didnt like it. So I guess as bad as Warhammers problems are its still a better design than Aion. At least for me.
AoC: OMG Boobs! LOL They claimed it had some new innovative combat system, yeah, ok, instead of a chain of skills, I now click directional arrows to complete the one skill. Rather fast raid zones, some cool concepts for seiges, an arena and some PvP zones where seiges could take place... just not enough for many players. The starter area was extremely well done, it's a shame they didn't improve the rest of the game.
WAR: Not bad at first, T1 was a blast and the RvR lakes in the first areas were usually hoppin' with action. However, the end game was riddled with bugs and a lack of solid content to keep many interested. On top of all that, the game has been changed so much since release, it's completely different and I honestly can't say I've heard anything good in the last 9 months.
Aion: You can fly! Sometimes, in certain areas, but you can fly, really... Arial combat was just bleh. Though the idea of exactly the same classes for both races appeared to make PvP balanced, the classes themselves made it imbalanced. The graphics weren't all that spetacular, but nice. PvP is limited in that it's either by going through rifts or hunting some action down in the Abyss. All in all, just meh. Nothing new to really keep it on top.
So you have 3 games that had a bunch of hype and each has died in it's own way to some degree. All new games go through the subscription drops in their first quarter, no one can say they don't. It's up to the companies putting them out to keep those numbers from dropping significantly What makes it even worse is that after all these years of MMOs being brougth onto the market, they still have tons of bugs, poorly implemented mechanics and nothing overwhelmingly new.
I would put this game on par with WAR and ahead of AoC. Aion had my hypometer to the max during the betas and I had a blast during them. During the actual game I had a blast till about level 35ish...5 levels higher than my beta char. After 35 it just felt unsatisfying for me. The game has all the basics of games Ive played in the past, it just doesn't have that "thing" that keeps me hooked. Could be me or could be the game, either way I played for 2 months and quit. WAR is very similar to this.

it's lacking in a lot of areas.

WAR and AOC were fun games till about level 20 when things fell apart.

Only want to point out that the OP is a trollaccount only made to bash Aion. Check the post history.
Its kinda entertaining watching such threads run its usual course.
Not sure what MMOs your coming from...but Aion owns AoC and WAR bud
"I play Tera for the gameplay"

Maybe its your choice of the three, but even if Aion is the better of the three, with which I do not agree, it s still not saying a lot for Aion.
