I disagree I think there are some awesome games to look forward to rather then a lego game
That's the problem; there are always tons of games to look forward to. Then, at release, they fail to meet expectations and are shallow husks of what they were advertised they'd be. *That* is what this genre has evolved into. LU would just be another turd in an already-overflowing litterbox.
step 3. Enjoy Global Agenda until more traditional mmo's stop sucking so hard.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary.
PS - If anything LU is just making fun of the sandbox genre. I really don't care if the game is made. All genres of games have sub-genres, this just falls into a sub-genre of mmo's.
I mean getting huffy about this game means you would have to get huffy about all of the lego games that have been made. It's kinda pointless imo.
That said - when I was a kid LEGOs were AWESOME. The best childhood moments are made when kids build stuff and just mess around with them with their siblings and friends. LEGOs provide that better than most toys. LEGOs are the toy that can keep on giving. All kids should have LEGOs......but not the LEGO rip-offs.
Step 1. Buy Global Agenda Step 2. Stop bitching. step 3. Enjoy Global Agenda until more traditional mmo's stop sucking so hard. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary.
Sorry FPS is not really my cup of tea but have fun with that. ;D
Pretty much played every MMO that's come out since WoW.../sigh
As a 30 year old adult, this game interests me. Yea its for kids and the "missions" didnt look all that interesting but the premise behind the building system that allows you to create completely customizable objects (just like legos) is a real inovation in this industry. The potential behind this in the future, maybe custom lego homes, lego lawns, cars, tables, chairs.. ect ect.. is enormous. I find it funny that I see a kids game with cooler features than 90% of the shit that comes for adults.
Mocking you say? HMMM.............. Whats not to mock. Lets see general MMO standards, Overhyped under performing releases, Less play more pay, Games targeted for the i want it now for nothing WOW kiddies generation. Just a few generalisations on the spot that you can see repeated on these forums by the minute. I for one think if lego do it right they will have a nice game, the lego games though based on childish themes are quite addictive. Adds to the Gameplay versus graphics argument. I hope they do well and mock the crap out of the bloated MMO carcass good luck to them.
Really though, there is no ownership of the the genre that you are talking about. It's pretty much open to any type of game to fail or succeed, so nope, don't feel any mocking here.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
I have yet to see a Lego theme game fail, so I think this game will do good. Perhaps this will finally be the WoW killer all you trolls have been hoping for. I actually look forward to playing this game with my kids and I expect it will have a more mature audience then any of the MMO's I have played recently.
If MMO's really want to take a turn to a more 'serious' crowd then they should take a look at what Demon's Souls has done.
Smooth gameplay (for those of you that are terrible at it - it's not slow or jerky, just realistic...you're just not used to it), a lot of character customization, a lot of depth and death penalties that are harsh, but not -too- harsh. Each of the worlds is big enough to explore, even if they are somewhat linear. Mobs are challenging to fight, but in a fun way.
If things like this upset you, you probably take mmorpgs too seriously. If you want to see the kind of mentality you should avoid, read any thread on any topic on this site. It will be 3/4 rabid nerdrage.
Legos Star Wars did pretty well with a tongue in cheek attitude. This could do just as well. Either way it will be a part of the 'genre'.
What I saw in the video was the same thing I see in most promotional MMORPG videos. An idealized version of the game and an idealized version of the players of that game. The second part of that sentence is where many real players derive an overly optimistic opinion of games.
"I used to think the worst thing in life was to be all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone." Robin Williams
well damn dude if you hate the genre so much then why are you here. I mean no offence mind you Im just curious
I'm here because I can hope. But I'm losing faith, not so much in the games, but the players that ruin them.
Because most of the people that play MMOs have lost the concept of "fun". From what I've seen on this site, they want to live vicariously through their virtual avatars, wave their e-peen, and prove how hardcore they are. If this game is FUN, then I'm all for it, and I hope it infuriates the 'hard-core' gamers.

Um...the "genre" is mostly in the toilet, with few exceptions.
I disagree I think there are some awesome games to look forward to rather then a lego game
-Hmmm lego universe as an MMO, it might be good game......tho i dont know how meny people are there that are fans of LU.
Have you played it?
Lego universe is prolly the only game to look forward too. And yes the genre is in the toilet, its a floater.
Sorry, but if you didn't play with Lego as a kid, you were a deprived child and your parents should be flayed alive.

I loved legos as a kind but with games coming out like hello kitty and now this it just makes me feel like MMOs are stunting my growth

Hello Kitty must really upset you then.

-Unless they make giant lego robots to destroy Blizzard i don't see that happening :P

i think it's great. I can't see the need for pomposity. It could actually be really good. Explain, if you can, why you feel this is mocking the genre?

Why can't legos be awesome?
They were a staple when I was young.
Naw, I think adding variety to the genre is a good thing.
