Spiderman 4 Canceled

The reboot is in, maybe this will create a new fresh of air, kind of what Dark Knight did.

New director? Sure. ...New cast? Kind of awkward. Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

Eh... but I don't like the idea of rebooting something that is less than a decade old. How about they come up with a new Superhero for once.

    Spiderman 1 was, meh.

    2 was, ok.

I left the theater half way through 3.

Spiderman and Batman have been my favorite heroes by far, since I was old enough to read and probably before that. The first 2 Batmans were good, back in the day. I was in the 5th grade when the 3rd one came out and I liked it, but not really all that much. Mostly, just because of Jim Carrey. I remember thinking that the flourescent paint was over the top and there was no reason for there to be neon lights in Two-Face's tommy gun. The Dark Knight is what Batman should have always been, the first 2 of the original movie series started out that way, but something happened and who knows what.

Hopefully, Spiderman will get the same treatment. The first one sucked in my eyes, because the CGI was pathetic and the CGI character moved like limp noodles. The second one did a little better with the CGI and Doc Oc was my favorite villain of the series. But, like I said the 3rd I walked out of the damn theater. It's was beyond words pathetic. Topher Grace as Eddie Brock? The Sandman? Who the hell is the freaking Sandman? I had to look it up when I got home. Found out he was in Spiderman #6 and like 2 others and that's it.

I have to say, the only thing I have liked about the Spiderman movie series has been it's cast. I really don't think they could have chose better characters for Peter Parker, Mary Jane, or Harry Osborn.

Toby Maguire is the absolute perfect choice for Peter Parker, imho. They couldn't have done a better job. But, that's as far as the praise for the movies go and I'm not talking anything about sticking true to the stories, or anything like that, I'm not a comic book fan... I've read a few but that's about it. In no way, in my life time (I'm 25), does that mean I can't be a big fan of super heroes.

Just simply in the name of good film, none of them have been very good at all. Keep the casting director, keep the major parts of the cast, fire everyone else especially the writers and the CGI team.

Why come up with a new super hero, when they have literally millions to chose from? Most with pretty in depth backgrounds already written. Most of the obscure names, actually turn out to be really good films because you don't have comic nerds critiquing every piece of dialog and every piece of the storyline to be true to the comics. See Blade for details.

And in case you forgot, Heroes is by Stan Lee (Marvel). Granted, it's pretty much the XMen comics with less flash and very well drawn story lines, but still it's nothing we've seen before.

    New Witer

Spider-Man 4 is now on it’s second writer. The first writer James Vanderbuilt, who wrote Zodiac, didn’t impress the studios with his take on what Spider-Man 4 should entail so Sony has hired David Lindsay-Abaire. Lindsay-Abaire is a pulitzer prize winner for his play “Rabbit Hole”. Not really sure how this is going to play out, he doesn’t seem to have much experience in the comic book genre, but he is obviously a good writer so hopefully we’ll get something interesting out of him.

It looks as though Sam Raimi and the studio could not reach an agreement regarding the many things they were arguing about, so with that Spider-Man as we’ve known it for the past 3 films is gone. Sony says that they will reboot the franchise in 2012 with a new director and an all new cast. So you can pretty much disregard any information that you’ve seen posted on this site in the past as it’s all going to change from here on out.

this wha i've jsut read in the news

"Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood blog says director Sam Raimi has pulled out of 'Spider-Man 4′ because he felt he could not meet its May 5 release date and keep the film's creative integrity."

If that's true, then kudos to Sam Raimi.  It sounds like Sony wanted to push the film out the door before it was ready.  Hats off to Raimi for putting the film's creative integrity first.  Makes me want to go see the next film he makes, no matter what it is.

  • And I thought Spiderman 4 would be about Peter Parker's high school life. Something like a prequel...

All of the modern spiderman movies are complete garbage, because the main character is far too feminine to play the role.

I don't get Hollywood's new obsession with girl-boys in masculine roles. It's not like he was the only one "suited" to play it; there are plenty of guys who neither sound nor look like women to play spiderman.

In the comic books Peter Parker might have been extremely intelligent, but he was by no stretch of the imagination anywhere near as dainty as Tobey Maguire.

Michael Cera, Tobey Maguire etc. are not fit to play real mens' roles on screen and it makes me sick to my stomach having to watch those pussies feign masculinity. It could be because of the hormones in our meat that our females are getting more masculine and our males more feminine, since I don't remember weak, emotional males begin the stars of action films in the 80's and 90's.

Seriously: When Mary Jane becomes more buff than spiderman, a line has to be drawn.

Peter Parker was never a buffed guy. He was cut, but he was always much smaller than other super heroes.

I don't know where people got into their heads that Spiderman was like Super Man and was huge body building monster.

Toby Maguire got pretty cut for the role:

Tobey Mcguire doesn't even have biceps. FFS look at the picture; he's not even half as ripped.

I want to see the X-Men origins for Kitty Pryde/shadow cat.    They they bring her back yet? for some reason they killed her off.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Does everything have to focus so much on a damn soap opera? Even Stargate Universe wants to ruin the IP with soap opera.

I stopped reading Spiderman around the Todd McFarlane introduction days. While parts in the comics featured private life/Mary Jane I think the soap opera was definitely overplayed. This annoyed me by the second movie and ticked me off in the third.

I hope the reboot is fewer soap opera and more focused back towards the crime fighting it should be.

Spider Man goes back to high school.

And Disney said it wouldn't change anything with Marvel...

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

The best cast, imo, is still JJ Jameson, exactly like the comic.

I was thinking part 4 would be about man-wolf, JJ's son...

I know why they are rebooting it.

At the end of the newest Hulk and Ironman, they meet with Nick Fury about the Avengers program, the reboot will incorporate that into the end so that Spiderman can become a member of the Avengers for upcoming movie I bet.

Expect a Captain America movie too, and hopefully a Luke Cage movie.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
