Just curious how fast a casual gamer would/could hit the level cap if he were playing it for his first time?
Also, is there enough content to keep a casual gamer busy for awhile, and is there potential/signs of them adding lots of new content later on?
Is the PvP open or is it in certain zones? how does that work exactly?

To hit lvl cap is NOT important in FE, in fact this shouldn't be important in any MMORPG, tho some MMO have spoiled us with these false pretences of this so called "end game" Overall don't worry about endgame, before you hit that allot of time will have passed.....
FE isn't about that, FE is about it's world, it's community, all the things we can do, explore, discover, fight, craft, scavaging/harvesting, helping each other. And leveling speed is slow compared to most current MMORPG's, very slow in many opinions and too slow for those that will leave because of it.
Explore: The world is hugh, the "starters zone" which I like to call S1(sector 1) is hugh, it consist of starter towns where you can learn ALL the basic, which starts with the extended tutorial, those who pay attention to that will truly know the basics, those who do not will often end up in the /help channel asking everything that they could have already know if only they payed attention...
Discover, similar to explore but in this way you can discover everything you need to know from actualy playing the game, and with everything I really mean everything...from how things work, what is a nice combat type, what things do and what your purpose in FE's world might be. where to find what etc..etc..Quest are very well written so paying attention to that also consumes some time
Fight, fight for town control but mainly starts in S2 (Sector 2), you will be very busy fighting NPC's for hte most part in S1, but can seek up PVP zones, which are radiated area's in which you are able to fight other players, little of it in S1, better in S2, think even better in S3( can't speak about S3 yet cause think for me that is still months away before I get there. PErsonaly I like the way PVP is handled, but will admit PVP isn't my strong atraction point in MMORPG's, where I know plent of full PVP'rs might not be fully satisfied with PVP as mostly they want other things like rewards to go with PvP, I just like to fight against other people in PvP that to me is rewarding enough....
Craft, al I can say 90% of the game items are crafted, do not expect awesome weapon or armor drops from NPC's or Creature's, tho you might get some nice rewards from quests, still the crafted goods is where it's at.
Scavaging/harvesting if you into that and like to pick up things from the ground FE will surely satisfy this need as it does for me, resources are everywhere, at starters town it starts with almost most basic resources in small quantity's and builds up in larger quantity's the more upwards you go towards major towns and it's surroundings, in fact you "can" find about most resources from exploring the world, tho there are some resources/components that need to be bought which can not be found or crafted, example would be "untrained horse" and some other untrained components, but keep in mind you can't just go out and get all this stuff as you gonna need tradeskill books to learn, lvl and spend AP to get certain things you might need.
Helping eachother, can be done in many way's, there are allot group oriented missions/caves/underground area's, there is /help channel where many of us keep giving help even to those impatient ones that skipped the basics in the tutorial and/or skipped the extended tutorial/training, we help each other finding certain resources that might be somewhat rare, give guidens to where Stable/Garage's are, even tho if people would explore they could really find them themselfs, I have escorted plenty of people who really couldn't find what they where looking for. How and when/where to spend AP at. Overall the base community is very helpfull in many way's.
There is no BEST combat profession, they are all good but only if peope pay attention to the many possibility's the game has to offer, for example we keep seeing people say Melee will rule them all, which is only true for those who do not pay attentions to all FE has to offer, sure melee is easy to get it, and yes for me as a crafter I took melee for my main due to it not having to need to carry ammo around which means more weight and space in my pack for all my resources/components I carry, mostly melee will become very challenging in S2 where most mobs are ranged with pistol to snipers and come at you in groups, Rifleman/woman have better changes as they can switch from Rifle's to shotgun if short range is needed at Rifle skill lvl 60
FE has it's issue's, relog is Magic sometimes to solve certain issue, but I wil admit I might have relogged once or twice since I started to resolve something, but see many seem to need to relog more often, can't really tell if it's their part or if it's the game as I helped so many people who thought things where bugs where in fact they just didn't do things correctly or misunderstood what it was they needed to do, things like falling thru the world seems to happen, but I feel it happens because some things in game are not optimized well enough for slower computer who might have a harder time to calculate certain parts of the gameworld, so that's something I feel lays on both sides (player system and game).
I am currently lvl 20 with my main Melee/Crafter which has allmost all Tradeskills currently at 84, except cooking at 54 and mutations at 64 and have my rifleman at lvl 9 closing in on 10, which I will use mainly to get into pvp .....someday and yes I've been with the game nearly since release, a week after....I am very casual in terms of gametime as normaly I can spend very little time during the week and get the most out of some saterday's and/or sunday's, except this week which I took a week off from work and spend allot of time playing FE. My main hasn't touched a mission for about 2 weeks now, cause all I am doing and enjoying is crafting and exploring to world to build up my resource/component stacks, something I am really into...GRRRRRR where is that Tattered Leather......hehe my main own mission, tho need some more AP so I cna Refine leather to make it so....seems otherwise to be a very rare components in S1.
My forum name is my last name ingame so if you need help might you get into the trial or may even buy look me up or simply open /help, you're bound to see my head popup in there, but mainly am the PM (privtemessage) helper as often help channel can be very busy and answers aswell questions get lost in it .
What ever you decied I hope you like it, if not good luck in finding the game that will suite you, I for one have finaly after years found my game again and have don't see myself stopping any time soon as I said it will take months for me before I wil enter S3 and seems S4 and S5 are already currenty in the works...
Hope what I said might help........I cold go on about the game but leave it at this......
