I'm not speaking for eb, but Gamestop makes it pretty claer the website and storefront are to seperate things you can't return/exchange at the stores; I assume that perorders would be handled the same way
Call them and find out; let us know what they tell you!
I pre-ordered from EBGames.com but requested in-store pickup. They say it ships today and will be in stores on Nov. 9th. Maybe it's not too late for you to request in-store pickup as well, although I think you had to specify when you actually made the transaction online . . .
I was hoping that EQ2 would ship tonight before EB closes, maybe with the Halo 2 copies? I keep calling and they are saying not until tomorrow. Darn.
Well, on the bright side, I get to play the World of Warcraft Open Beta/Final stress test for another night
P.S.
It seems the best way to go, for next time, is ordering directly from SOE. My friends that did already have their cpoy of EQ2, although they cannot yet play because they said the servers haven't come online yet . . .

All I know is I'm not very pleased with having preordered when I could have just stopped by a retail store. Thought preordering was supposed to be faster. That EB Games would assume their preorders are locked in sales and therefore divert their stock (if that's what they did) to the retail stores to capture opportunity sales really sucks. Either they have made a mistake or are cheating the customer. I'll never order through them again.

I went by my local EB today at 4pm and they had just gotten their shipment. Only, they recieved only enough copies for the pre-orders and only the cd version, they said the dvd version would be in tomorrow.

Same here! For DVDs/CDs etc etc Amazon and Deep Discount DVD do great by making sure you get it on (if not a day before) release. It's all media so I don't see why it's so hard to get this right for games. Confusion reigns!
What sucks about some stores...they May tell you they have the game you pre ordered but if its not the official launch date aka Nov 9th..THEY won't sell it to you period. Some of their stores Break this rule..these stores get the perverable "tongue" lashing to an extent from their superiors but thats about it. So..now we have to sit here and watch all these other people play the game..*sigh* but from what I can tell No real major progress is going on except by 1 Character and taht guy..Locke or what ever...LOL must have no life or took time off to be as far ahead as he is. To become level 12 in one day takes about 8 to 10 hours of play. My friend was able to do it during beta but only after he figured everything out with another character.

I asked this same question last night. It appears as though Sony assumes that everyone who lives in America lives in an imaginary time zone 10 hours behind EST. Oh well, despite what SOE says, I'm still getting mine at midnight
Occasionally, you'll receive a pre-ordered product before we get tracking numbers and order statuses processed into our system. EBgames.com tries to get every game into your hands at the earliest possible date. To accomplish this, we sometimes use external resources that ship the product directly from the source, thereby eliminating any handling time that we might add to the delivery.
Our systems are updated as soon as we get the data back from the external resource, which is sometimes well after your product has been shipped. When time is of the essence, we place the priority on getting the product to you rather than updating our records because, in the end, getting the product to you is what it is all about.
That is from ebgames.com from the package tracking page in help. I guess there is still hope for a Tuesday arrival for all of us who ordered from ebgames *crosses fingers*.

Speaking from personal prior experience with Gamestop.com, r.e. pre-ordering, you can just go and buy the game from a local place and send the pre-order back when you receive it. You must call them and receive a "restockking/return # to write on the information slip you get with delivery, though. So, here is what I will do tomorrow, for the second time with Gamestop, then never have to do again since I will never pre-order online again. Tomorrow morning I will go pick up a copy in person, then send back my pre-order (after calling them for the appropriate info to do so) and get credited for the return, minus shipping, in th future. As I stated, I have done this with them before, in the exact same scenario. Never again will I preorder online. Many guildmates are online playing now. Seems EB is the only store I know of right now selling already, and we have none locally here. I only want in right away to reserve my characters names. I do agree that a week or two down the road this discussion will be a completely moot point.
Oh boy. Let me say, I have been screwed with preorders in the past and am hoping it doesn't turn out too bad this time. I live in a small town, only one store might possibly have it. PLus I don't have easy access to the store, so I just bought it online (ebgames). I was cheap so I stuck with the free 3 day, lol... damn. I'm hoping to get it Friday.. or earlier. ;-)
Originally posted by Paradiso Neither EB or GS were selling it here in CA. in the East Bay. Who knows...I;m with you tho, no more online ordering for me. What a rip.
I have Guildmates 2 hrs N of San Diego that bought the game from EB 6 hrs ago (6PM CST), I don't know of anyone besides EB selling it early. I had another Guildmate get a phone call at 9:30AM this morning (their local time) that they could come pick the game up early. Happy for them, of course, but very upset at the way this has been handled. The servers should not have come up until an official time. If I lose my handle due to this I will snap.

nope!
they ship it on release day, so if you get next day shipping for like 20 bucks, earliest you'll get it is wednesday
regular shipping..should be at your house by monday
you would have been better off going to your local EB to pick it up

is it possible for me to call eb games and just instead pick it up locally?

This is why I never preorder stuff online. People always get screwed it seems. Much more economic to ship dozens to a store, so that gets priority.
