2 friends returning - few questions before starting

in Final Fantasy XI

Now I know that there are a lot of these kinds of threads on this forum, but I can't find the specific answers to some of the questions we've got. The one(s) who help us will recieve many /hugs in-game.

 

We played from US release, and about 1 year from that. Now we're starting fresh on the Asura server, as it looks to be the most populated one :) Some questions we've got:

 

The 5 newest classes, Blue mage, Puppet master, Corsair, Scholar and Dancer, how does they play and how do they work in parties?

About the partying, is it still heavily exp-party centered to level up? That was one of the best things about FF XI for me, it brought people together, and seeing as I'll probably be playing a support class (thinking bard), soloing is not as viable :)

Is there any class combination for a duo that works particularly well?

How's the economy these days? Is it worth it to spill out the cash to get a craft skill high enough and get cash long-term through that, or is farming and getting money through leveling parties viable?

    the game got lot solo friend you can get alot info on http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org fileplanet got free trail and you can get all the expacks for 20$

     Hey I am in the exact same boat as you, and I just returned and made a new character on asura, Demendred. i would love some people to play with so if you and your friend are looking for someone else to play with please let me know. post it in here on send me a pm. hope to see you in game!

    Heya Torpedo, just an FYI all servers are hopping with activity, not just Asura...so it doesn't matter which one you choose, but like I just offered Smatthews in his thread...click on my signature and visit our LS forums.  We're getting ready to jump back into full swing again soon, and you'll find many of us are veterans, other still are starting over and some entirely new players or returnees from yrs ago starting anew.

     

    Come check us out, say hi, join us if you want...we are based on the Fenrir server though so you'll have to start there or transfer existing chars to us.  We are a rapidly growing, mature community of FF fanatics working on becoming good friends, so we can especially jump into FFXIV at launch and have a great time together.
