I am going to build a gaming PC for the first time, well any PC for that matter. Previously I would just buy the whole PC.
I am going to list the specs, tell me what you guys think?
AMD Phenom II X4 (965) 3.40 Ghz 8.0MB L2 cache.
MOBO: Gigabyte-MA785GMPT -UD2H DD3
Corsair 4GB 1333Mhz
ATI 5770 1GB DDR5
A normal big case.
A 750 V power supply.
500 GB HDD
23" Full HD monitor.
A normal Keyboard and a gaming mouse.
My budget is not much that's why I have chosen AMD instead of Intel. However I can afford an Inter i3 Core but I think Phenom II is better. I am student studying game development so I will need to use software like 3Ds Max. Is this PC good for that?
I also was thinking of a MSI motherboard but I've heard that GigaByte is more reliable.
So tell me what you guys think of this build.

In my opinion, the 5770 is a bad solution at the moment.
On 25 January, the 5830 will be released, a card with the performance of 4890 but supporting DX11 and having a competitive price(<=$200). The 5770 is as good as a 4870(to see a difference).
If you can wait a few more days, then take the 5830.
dont know the price of 1333 memory but i got 2 stcik bargin of 1600 (with heatsink)for 150 total so check to make sure your 1333 arent expensive might have to buy part from diff e-store .since some have good price on item a but not item b
often i go to my local store and bargin their price but on most occasion they got good price(eapacially this month of the year since nobody buy (credit card are full so you can expect a 10 to 30 % price drop from regular price.so that 600 $graphic card
might be closer to 400 $ this month!
Despite everyone else trying to father figure you on trying to build a good pc. To Answer your question...yes that is a rather decent gaming PC.
Have you seen the horrid core and memory clock on that 5830?
Have you seen the horrid core and memory clock on that 5830?
Are they even released yet(or did you take those off wikipedia)?
Also, keep in mind that it will have a 256-bit bus and ~1000 shaders, which should provide at least 20% more speed than 5770(no overclocking included, which would make it go even higher).
I mean, judging by core and RAM clocks alone would mean that 5770 is just as good as 5870.
Yeah its decent, but I don't think you need a 750 W PSU, 650 will do
