WARNING: Earth Eternal Puts Your Email On Spam List

teaincupteaincup Member UncommonPosts: 7

I haven't had spam in months. As soon as I signed up for Earth Eternal (profiled here on MMORPG.com http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/329/view/reviews/load/107 ) my email inbox has been assauted by porn spam immediately, several times an hour, and it won't stop.

Uh, you're blaming the wrong source there bub... I have had an account with them for several months and participated in the beta and I hardly ever get spam email at all, and certainly not porn. It's coming from someplace else.

You know what?MANY do,i see the same thing,i get brand new spam every time i sign up to sites,go figure that is why they DEMAND you to sign up.They do not need us to sign up to forums or anything, they have our IP,if they need to ban us they can ban our IP,banning a name means nothing anyhow.

What is worse ,is they try to pretend by leaving you a box that clearly says no sharing with affiliates, but obviously they lie.

Then how do you explain how it s that I get unsolicited emails maybe once in a blue moon? If what you are saying is true then I should have a hundred new spam emails in my inbox every morning...

You're wrong.  I've used two different email addresses, neither of which have been spammed in the months I've played.

As for why you're getting spammed?  There are a number of possibilities:

    • Did you sign up for any offers on the earn credits page where you had to provide your contact info to a third party?
    • Your email address might have been auto-generated or hacked from a database somehwere else.  My official email, that I never give out to anybody but friends and co-workers, gets a ton of spam (all of which is caught in it's filter, thankfully), whereas two other emails that I use for gamtng and contests never get any...
    • Have you ever replied to a spam email, opened one with any graphics in it or tried it's "unsubscribe" link?  All of those verify that an email address is valid.

Those are just some possibilities - there are others.

It sucks that you're suddenly inundated with spam, but Sparkplay isn't doing it.  Btw - here's a link to the Sparkplay privacy policy, which states they won't give out your info, but aren't responsible for their third party partners.

The only way you will get spam from EE is if you sign up for certain offers. And even then, given the family focus of the game, it's never porn spam.

It's obviously from doing a survey or "earning" credits for free if it's from Earth Eternal.
