They aren't trying to "save the game" they are doing what all games do and that is ADD stuff. They moved on a long time ago and left the vets behind. While vets have been crying over the NGE for the last 5 years and rewriting the same shit re- reviews on this site over and over, SWG is probably shaped up to the the best most comprehensive Sci-Fi MMO out there with both space and ground aspects. It's not the mindless, eye bleeding, Bol hunting, holo-grind, broken profession, piece o' shit grinder it was 5 years ago. You can not point to a single MMO that has all the features this game has that is currently on the market. You can not point to a single game that is going to release in the near future that has all the features of this game. Whether you individual like those features or not is called "preference" or "taste". And that is what really pisses the vets off. The game moved on and continued to evolve and change while they stayed in 2004 (where it was also dieing a slow death also) and put on those lovely rose colored glasses. How many years has this game been "dieing" now according to the vets? 5 maybe 6? How many times have we read "this game will shut down by the end of the year"? How many time has some goofy vet claimed that LA wasn't going to renew the license? And yet it somehow manages to move on and somehow they manage to add stuff like this in despite "being on life support". It's time for the SWG vet to just......fade away......like the pre-NGE game....which by the way, is never coming back...because...(drum roll) it sucked. Simple as that. That is why they changed it. No body liked it. Go read the old pre-CU reviews. SWG was a total flop of an MMO it's first 2 years.
That sums up my thoughts pretty well.
Even though I'm no longer playing SWG, I'm glad to see it's still evolving after the inital NGE launch with alot of the features that pre-CU folks asked for. It's definitely a shadow of the mess it was at launch with more to offer now than ever before. I don't see this game going away anytime soon.
As far as GU 15 goes, there are some great features. Ones that I wish we had at launch. It would have definitely helped make the GW feel more alive.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"

Swg was a mess at release, a mess during the cu, a mess during the nge and is still a mess.
I think torak sort of glosses over that in his zeal to point flaws in people from his side of the fence. Each side takes turns trying to polish the turd as if anyone could point to the period in time that this game was somehow a model of quality that is worthy of comparing a feature list to other mmos and somehow coming out on top.
Quantity versus quality. Not the same thing.
Potential versus what is actually delivered is not the same thing.
Will this patch finally deliver the needed changes to the pvp portion of the game or will it be just another patch that current players use to scoff at the inability and mistakes of the developers like the battlegrounds or double sockets turned out.
This patch sounds really great, but time will tell how it actually works.
