Got kinda bored of the beta myself, canceled my preorder also. Not sure how these people actually think buying the lifetime sub is worth it after I got bored and I only played about 15 hours or less of the open beta.
My thoughts about City of Heroes when I first tried it many years ago, yet I had gaming friends who loved it and played it steady for 3 years.

The complaints about the number of Character slots is a joke IMO. If you want more than 3, why wouldn't you expect to pay more? At least they're offering the option without jacking you for the game again like most other MMOs.
Another potentiolly great IP goes down in flames... I don't know what it is about Crypitic, but I really WANT them to suceed, despite their retarded MT policies and whatever, but they constantly fail to deliver anything with 'soul' or (for me) longevity. This was their last chance with me as a customer tbh, I have finally let go of the fun first three months I spent in CoH at launch and come to the conclusion that they company is no longer capable of delivering the kind of game I am looking for. *cancels preorder and wanders off back to his box*
It is not a potential great IP for MMOs. It is impossible to make a game feels like the series and movies, I can't think of a single MMO company that could make it even close.
Some IPs are very easy to make into a MMO, like the last IP Cryptic is working on: Forgotten realms. You really can't fail with that.
Star trek works great for movies, series and books.
Cryptic is not the best company around but it really doesn't matter, no one could succeed in this. They could however at least try to make the game feels more like the original.

City of Heroes was a very different animal. When I played it in beta I knew I'd be playing it for a looooong time (and I did, almost 2 years). You had so many choices, archetypes, powerset combinations, power enhancements, so many things to try and that would play differently. Playing CO beta on the other hand, I knew I'd only play it for a month or two, and I did, 2 months. STO originally felt like it could be fun for 3 months (that's before they made space combat boringly easy). As it is now, I don't see myself playing the game more than a month, after I snore my way to max level.
My preorder is confirmed as usual. STO has its problems but its also great fun. And not being 40 year old bitter trekkie helps in enjoying its good points. if you guys are looking for perfect MMO, its never gonna happen. i suggest you quit MMO today and find a new hobby.

i really was looking forward to this game since i have seen enough monsters and swords for one lifetime.
but this is just pathetic. never seen such a bugged grindfest before, unbelievable.

All I know is it certainly looks, feels, sounds, and plays like a Star Trek game.
