Who has enough time to do that?

The same type of person who has time to play two MMO's at once.

Playing both would wear me out since essentially they will be almost the same.

You would literally have to be void of an outside life to do this. Hell FFXI itself is a the biggest Timesink MMO out on the market, takes forever to accomplish anything, even crafting. Well actually for my to say that is a little off, I mean I could see full time students whether it be High School or College be able to pull this off or people that are unemployed but still bringing in a check one way or another. Anyways I believe they wanted people to honestly be able to play both but the way SE is going on with things to me it seems like they don't expect FFXI to last but another 2-3 years at most. The game is old, dated and lost most of its luster to most of people who play it, the main people that still play it are the ones that feel obligated to play it because they have sunk so much of their time into the game. I don't have that problem, I sunk the time into the game for enjoyment, once it becomes boring it is time to move onto bigger and better games (if any or are out).

Anywho there will be be quite a few people that stay behind and a quite a few people who play both, but I honestly believe that majority of FFXI players are gonna move to 14 and stay for the long run. SE  i feel really knows what they are doing this time around and they show that in an outward experience, especially when they just recenrtly stated this will Rival WoW in numbers, and that is where it all matters. As for myself, i had just quit FFXI again about a month ago, I had been having fun and planned to play it up to FFXIV release but I suddenly realized I already accomplished everything I wanted to in that game and there was nothing keeping me there besides a handful of friends that are all now on my myspace page, So I can chat with them anytime :)

It would be cool if in FFXIV in your mog house there was a FFXI arcade machine where you could take your character to it and then play FFXI.

I gave FFXI a try, but as said before, it is a huge timesink (even bigger than Lineage II, which I've played for 4 years).

I got bored with FFXI pretty fast, but it also might be because I started out too late, with almost no one around me to party with (heck, the whole starter area was empty aside from me and the NPC's). The other thing that bothered me was the real FF combat style. In FF7 it worked, but in an MMO where things tend to go faster and you have more options not (at least not for me).

Will I give FFXIV a try? I think I will. Then I can start out together with my brother and keep things fun and interesting ;)
