World of Warcraft: Open Beta Begins

It's official!  Open beta for World of Warcraft has begun.  In a post on their homepage, Blizzard has announced that the open beta client is available from FilePlanet.  Here's the post:


Blizzard Entertainment is proud to announce that the free open beta has begun. In preparation for the launch of World of Warcraft, we are now introducing the most complete version of the game, including a new patch with extensive content, including racial traits, raids, Hunter and Paladin talents, new quests for high-end zones, and much more. We need your help for a final, massive test of our infrastructure, account creation, and the game itself. So we are now opening up the testing phase to the entire Internet-ready public of North America, Australia, and New Zealand. So if you aren't already playing World of Warcraft, sign up for the open beta now and begin your adventures in Azeroth!

An initial run of open beta accounts is now available from FilePlanet, so please visit www.fileplanet.com to grab your open beta key. Please note that there is no fee whatsoever for the open beta; the open beta is absolutely free. Unlike with the final stress test, you do not have to be a FilePlanet subscriber to participate in the open beta.

If you want to learn more about the open beta test, please read our Open Beta FAQ. The open beta slots are available on a first come, first served basis, so hurry to FilePlanet and grab your key as soon as you can. We hope to see you in Azeroth soon.

    Well that's cool. I'm glad you don't have to be a member of Fileplanet to get the download. It's FREE to anyone, but FilePlanet only has a limit number of open Beta spots, so people better get them now, while they last.

    Man FilePlanet's Open Keys were gone way before you posted that. :) Cheers though. The Main site should be back up soon and the wait will be over. (Once the 2.5 GBs download, ofcourse. ;))

    i have the client installed, just waiting for the accountcreation to get back online!

    and OMG!! the intro... its just... stunning!!

    thats an intro to be proud over! wtg blizzard/ncsoft! image

    i hope ill be just as impressed by the gameplay!

    I think it's really funny. A 2 and a half gig download for an OPEN beta, then as soon as you have it downloaded there is a message saying there are no more signup slots available... so muh for an open beta!

    Methinks that they dont have enough servers available and the game is too popular for its own good.
