What do you want to do?
It will help people answer what you can do once they know that information.
Have a persistent world in which the Klingons and Federaton fight over contested space... but that can't happen because of the engine cryptic uses.. They instance everything so having a persistent world is not possible..
So there is no end game I gather from this post?
My gaming blog
yeah and every game out there had a fully fleshed out end game at launch, since im not a "power gamer" like you I have no worriers there will be an end game there waiting for me by the time I get there.

Why bother buying it or playing it and wasting 2 months just to get to top level so you can complain about the fact that the content you want never existed in the first place?
Just curious
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
Quote from the STO Forums:
Hey Everyone,
As this thread has received quite a bit of community attention, I've decided to clear up a few things to help us determine if there is or is not an issue.
FIrst off I would like to start by explaining there is potentially 1 primary cause for the incredibly quick leveling in which players who were capped at Lt. Cmdr. 6 and were then able to reach Admiral 1 within a short period of time.
----------------------------------
On January 20th at roughly 9:30pm the ST.0.20100119a.7 build was patched to Holodeck. This build introduced PvE difficulty changes which rendered much of the PvE combat content excessively easy.
(So easy that you could go afk with +5 enemies shooting at you)
During this time the content lock on the rest of the game was removed and players were then able to continue progression with the incredibly easy PvE.
On January 22nd at roughly 8:00pm the ST.0.20100119a.12 build was patched to Holodeck. This build contained adjustments to the PvE combat difficulty for primarily Lt. Cmdr. and above. These changes effectively tuned the PvE combat difficulty for most critters back upwards to an appropriate level.
This left anyone who was willing to invest the time a full 40-44 hrs of game time to progress with incredibly easy PvE content.

There have also been reports of players utilizing known exploits to level at an accelerated rate. There are ongoing discussions revolving around how best to resolve these issues without further impacting gameplay negatively, especially this close to launch.
The STO DEV team have been beaming these exploits and other bugs into space as quickly as we can. In order for us to ensure we are grabbing and fixing them all, we need YOU the players to assist us in finding and reporting on exploits you have come across.
In the event you beleive you have come across a potential exploit, how do you proceed?
1,) BUG IT!!! - On your minimap there is a " ? " select this and then select " Report a Bug "
2.) Log onto IRC in either #STO or #stoqa, I and other Cryptic staff monitor these channels for user reported problems and answering general questions.
You can get IRC instructions at the following thread - IRC Setup
If you have not already, read this thread it is also a good read for proper guidelines of submitting Showstopper and Critical type bugs

And here is the issue with allowing / making people PAY to play Beta.
Why should people report 'exploits'?
They PAID to PLAY the Beta. So, if they find an 'exploit' which allows them to gain more power or level faster that is to their advantage. It may allow them to experience more of the game they PAID FOR.
So, they owe you (the Developer) nothing. And what's more... you can't do anything about it at this stage.
Ban them? From a Beta? For finding and exploit? Yeah right.
But they didn't report it? How do you know they weren't going to?
This is why Beta Test should never have been allowed to devolve into Pre Release Marketing.

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.
Um... just out of curiosity, how many hours a day do you play on average...?

I didnt have to pay for a beta key, it was accually incredibly easy to get a STO open beta key.
First MMO you have played at release? Let be realistic instead of just negative.

Have to agree with Gyrus here.
You're *paying* to beta test the game. Not to play it; but to test it in a not ready for release state. That's what "beta" means in the software world.
You find an exploit? Great. You report it? Even better. But you technically don't "have" to do anything - YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE "privilege" of playing a game not-ready-for-market. The developers shouldn't really "expect" anything from you, because you're paying for an unproven, unfinished product.
There's a culinary school where I live, since my wife and I live in a major metropolitan city - Phoenix, AZ. In Scottsdale, a suburb of Phoenix, there's the Scottsdale School of Culinary Arts - one of the more famous and well known chef's schools in the US. Every week they have a "student" provided meal where you can, for about $30 a person, eat a meal that would cost $100 a person nearly anywhere else, because it's resort-quality food prepared by students.
Usually the food is excellent. However, there are no refunds if you don't like your food - YOU ARE PAYING STUDENTS - meaning, these are kids who aren't trained chefs yet. They're learning. You pay a meager amount of cash and chances are, you'll eat like a king. But every now and then the chefs, well, show the inexperience of being second or third year students. And something you eat ends up being... well, let's say a fillet mignon slightly over spiced, or over cooked, or whatever.
If I was paying $100 for the meal at a resort hotel, I'd send it back and demand another plate. But at a training college? You're there to help some students gain the experience of what an actual chef does in an actual restaurant. They're "beta testing" their cooking skills. If you find a bone in your fish fillet, yeah, tell the manager - but don't expect any refunds. You're not paying for a finished product, really - you're paying for the possibility of getting a really good meal at cut-rate prices.
But would you take a first date there? Probably not...
Same thing for beta MMOs. One doesn't really expect them to be finished, or perfect - but charging full price for testing a game seems to be a rather odd business practice to me.
*shrug*
Then again, people are lining up to pay for the beta so...
Is there no multiplayer raid/fleet content for marginally escalating gear quality?

Never played an MMO that limits you to 3 character slots and so little content.. have you?

none with only 3 slots but basically every current mmo on the market had around the same amount of content.

Well, the point of beta is that you're supposed to report bugs and exploits, but I think you already know that. I agree 100% that pay to play betas should never have turned into prerelease marketing. 110% actually.
Yes, there were many people (myself included) who got into the open beta for free, but many people got in through pre-orders. So for those who say that you didn't have to play beta, you're right, but only partially.
I've been against pay for beta for a long time, so it's good to see someone else who agrees. If you're payin through pre-order to play the beta, it really isn't a beta anymore is it? (rhettorical question).
....
I also did not have to pay to play the beta. I would never do that.
The one thing positive about Cryptic I would add in this context is that they will make a lot of changes. You may not like them all, but it is almost certain that the game you are beta testing will be dramatically better in 6months to a year.

Completely agree.
Another title with lots of potential but no depth.
seems that even the (cough) recent released games have exploits http://www.scarybadguys.com/index.php?o ... view&id=61
The version you are beta testing isnt even the version that will be released. But if you dont like it..then dont buy it and play. Everyone is too damn concerned with ripping anything new apart and tearing though levels to the end game... bottom line..you dont think there is enough to play then dont buy it and dont play it...rather stupid to come in here and whine about it..it is your choice after all.
Sorry but I keep hearing this beta excuse...................when this game will be released again?
Cause if the game looks crap now, a couple of weeks more are not going to change absolutely anything..................see also CO
because they are using the star trek IP and if they don't at least make the game decent they can and will be hanged by trekkies.
@ OP.. Lies!! there is plenty of end game.. its just Cryptic style. Think about when you first started. you had to kill 5 patrolls 5 squadrons 5 mines 5 battle cruisers over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
At that lvl you should be killing between 15-20 suadrons/ patrols / mines/ battle cruisers over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
LOL I swear the only thing worse than a asian grinder is and asian grinder with shoe box instances every 2 seconds. I think Cryptic should have gotten the Nobel for Innovation in this regard over Obama.
