Thinking of subbing...

Yes...its true. This may be it! Maybe I do see a diamond in the rough here, but then again, only trying the game will truely answer that question for me, is DFO really a game I would enjoy.

So to further this potential ambition, namely, my subcription and participation in DFO, I have a number of questions to ask about the game. Bear in mind these questions my morph over discussion depending on the replies I receive.

So, let us begin, and I will order these questions as per thier importance to me.

1. Is hacking still a problem in Darkfall, and by this I mean, as a player how much would you guess your enjoyment in DFO was disrupted by obivious hacking. IE; I feel my experiences with hackers has ruined 30% of my playing experience in DFO. Or, conversely, hasnt really effected me at all, etc.

2. Player gaps, can veteran players one shot new players. Or is it a kinder gentler three shot sort of game. Or better yet, tell me of any epic fight you had against a veteran player in which with judicious use of shield, parry, or footwork, you were able to defeat the vet. As a aside to this, can you in fact use a shield to block? Or use weapons to parry?

3. What is the average ping of people playing in NA.

4. Regarding crafting, assuming one wanted to be self sufficent in say armor, or weapons crafting, how long would a solo player be expected to farm/skill etc to be able to make mid level stuff? And as a aside to that, is it even practical to do so, givin the required investments in time and resources.

5. IS there one race over any other that for any reason has a advantage. IE, hitboxes, etc.

6. More questions to follow...

There are still macroers, but again I've only seen a few. Mainly harvesters. Neither has influenced my enjoyment of the game at all.2. Player gaps, can veteran players one shot new players. As a aside to this, can you in fact use a shield to block? Or use weapons to parry?Vets can't 1-shot newbs, but they can get them down in 3-4 if they newb is brand new and the PKer has good gear and doesn't miss. I've never won a 1v1 PvP battle against a vet. The gear I usually have on isn't that good and I don't have mastery of any skills yet. That's about to change relatively soon though. To answer your aside, yes you can use a shield to block, but it's a bit clunky atm. You can't attack and then quickly raise your shield. That part of melee combat needs to be improved imo.3. What is the average ping of people playing in NA.No idea what the average is, but mine is always around 50-60.4. Regarding crafting, assuming one wanted to be self sufficent in say armor, or weapons crafting, how long would a solo player be expected to farm/skill etc to be able to make mid level stuff? And as a aside to that, is it even practical to do so, givin the required investments in time and resources.I'm not sure how long it would take since I'm not focusing on making armor or weapons. I can easily get both from clanmates. That said, a solo player would definitely want to skill up both in order to save money on armor/weapons.5. IS there one race over any other that for any reason has a advantage. IE, hitboxes, etc.Mahirim and orks have the biggest hitboxes, but have the furthest reach. Dwarves have large hitboxes as well, but they're shorter. Alfar have the smallest hitbox, but also the smallest reach. Each race has racial abilities, but none of them really stand out imo.

EDIT: Doh! Well, glad you jumped in! Keep up posted on your initial impressions.

If you're on EU-1 send me a pm, you'll need to join up with a clan to get everything out of the game as it isn't a solo MMORPG. If you have a mic and use vent you'll probably get accepted into MAG, trust me it's worth doing.
