From what I have read on the O-boards, there seems to be a problem with $OE actually enabling vet accounts to log in on time at 12:01 am PST. Such blunders are typical for $OE, but I am sure it will be resolved. There was also a post saying that only vet accounts that had a paid subscription during the designated time period are eligible, but I have not read confirmation regarding that.

Yes, there really IS a free trial for Feb (to minimize STO losses), but, as I have come to expect from SoE, they are having "problems" activating the accounts.

STO doesn't "really" come out until tomorrow, so there's no rush on this for em ...besides, if the trial started TODAY, returning players would see the horrific lag that GU15 has brought. This is just a convenient way to put off the inevitable flood of negative posts/comments another day.

Had you actually bothered to read all the posts within the thread, you would have seen that I addressed that as being false and that SOE TSR's have commented in various spots on the official forums (easiest place to check is the Support Forums, obviously...) regarding the problem and how they were handling it.
These conspiracy theories some of the more disgruntled vets seem to come up with get more outrageous with each passing year. If you had informed yourself about the situation being discussed, prior to making your rather inaccurate post, you would already know that many players had there accounts reactivated successfully hours ago.
So when should we expect the o-forums to see this imaginary flood of negative posts/comments? The promotion has been active for 14 hours now, and there has been a grand total of four forum threads on the subject.
Seems like most people are not quite as spiteful and hate-filled as you seem to be, regardless of there past experiences with the company. Listen, it's a screw up like only SoE can do. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not "minor", it's not a mistake...it's typical SoE and any company worth a lick would have had a DEVELOPER comment on it so it actually showed up in the Dev Tracker feature they have at the top of their forums.

As I mentioned in my post, I DID look...in the "normal" Dev Tracker. Any normal person looking for this information will be unable to find it using the "normal" tools and will only be lucky enough to stumble upon the post you're referring to by dumb luck.
Even if they DO stumble upon the correct link in the support forum, the TSR from Sony tells them to send a PM!!! A PM. What he of course fails to realize is that if an account isn't active, you can't send a PM. Not only that, but now every returning player who has been told they have a free 30-days needs to send a PM to activate it? Wow...no potential for problems there huh?! Wow lol good point! For players with characters on closed servers, I guess it's free for 50 bucks, or start over. Since the big update is related to the Galactic Civil War, starting over wouldn't be very appealing. Giving SOE 50 dollars to pay a "free" update would be even less appealing to me.
It's amazing how SOE can offer something for free, find a way to charge 50 bucks to actually play it with your old character, and make sure that it's bugged at release. I'm wondering if it's even necessary to play to see that some things never change.
P.S. Gotta love the ongoing excellence in customer support too--if your account isn't activated as it should be, send a PM lol, wow.

Gorath, Sunrunner are not doing so well, I just looked at the officers pages, Sunrunner has only 4 pages of officers, and Bloodfin has about 25 pages, while Starsider has 56 pages. What does that mean? I think it means theirs about 3 more servers that are close to closing down this year. SOE doesnt seem to care it messed up with the free transfers last year.
I think the trend will go like this 3 close this year, 3 next year, and what thier left with will be about 5 populated servers in about 2 years. But will they keep it open for about 5 thousand people? Right now I think thier close to 10-15k people, but they still pay for about 50k accounts.
