MSI strips crown from ASUS

CleffyCleffy Member RarePosts: 6,414

MSI recently has made ASUS look like a generic brand name.  They are striving to be first on the market with new technology this time around.  Its showing in the results, even though the difference isn't much since its the motherboard.  MSI currently has the top LGA1366 board in the MSI Eclipse, the top LGA1156 board with the Big Bang Trinergy, and the top 790FX board that can support 4 dual slot graphics cards at PCI-e x8.  They have also consistently been near or at the top for best overclocks and options.  Next they will be first on the market with a Lucid Hydra.  This definetly looks like a positive year for MSI, especially with less of their hardware breaking down recently.

Thats why when shopping for a new system, you should keep MSI towards the top of your list in brands.  Probably above the previous best buy boards of ASUS.  Also when building I suggest keeping in mind Westmere and Fusion in 2011/2012.  What I mean by this is buying a system in 2011 before either of these are released would not be wise.  So if you are planning to buy a system you should buy in 2010.

I'm just glad ASUS is getting knocked down a peg and there to be actual competition for them.  They have the quality but lack the unnecessary.  Also I like MSIs.

Asus is spinning off their mobo division anyway to focus on notebooks monitors and PC's.

Asus mobos have never given me anything but trouble. I've been running Gigabyte and haven't had a hiccup.

    Now with 57.3% more flames!

I actually use Gigabyte, MSI and Asus so its win win for me. At the moment Im using a 790FX Asus and love it. Im also using a MSI laptop though. So YAYYY COMPETITION!

I used to love gigabyte a lot , but I had a micro board that had endless video problems, and had to RMA it .. TWICE.. their support just kind of irked me.  MSI is good, their low budget boards are great for building cheap office PCs and very stable.  Glad to see they've got some amazing high end stuff too.

I use MSI, ASUS, or Gigabyte. It really just depends on what board has the features I want/need for the best value. I won't buy any other brands though, but if it's between those 3 choices, it doesn't matter. I've owned at least 2 of all 3 choices and everyone of them has performed well and I've never had any problems.... Gigabyte BIOSs can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but it's never been anything that couldn't be fixed.

i got an asus mobo and the only 2 beef i got is this

the book say you should have these item in the box but they arent all there (no biggy i got a good supplier so he corrected the mistake but will probably ask asus wtf is going on!

number two is lot of tweak avail but good luck trying to know the specific on what it does what it apply for

aside from those i love asus been using those for 5 or 6 years now and never had a hick-up

but i still have ton of setting in the bios i never used because i dont know what they do ,my computer could probably run way faster but since these are advanced setting good luck trying to know what they do!

I 100% diagree with what you are saying.  MSI boards use very poor quality parts.  If you want quality do NOT go MSI.  I'm 0-2 with MSI boards, yet i have never had an issue with ASUS or gigabyte.  MSI uses the worlds cheapest capacitors..ASUS / Gigabyte uses quality in there boards  ... why do you think MSI offers more features for less money?  Cause their boards are flimsy junk.. Look at the failure rates for K9A and up ...

Sorry. i just believe what you are saying is unfactual opinion.. it reads like a bad infomercial...

MSI uses Military Grade capacitors, just like all the other companies they overhype the capacitors they are using.  I am 2-0 MSI, so I got the opposite of you.

    Best mobos im atm are:

    a. GA-EX58-UD5

    b. Rampage II extreme

    c. E758 3-Way SLI

    d. MSI x58 Eclipse PLUS (the reg doesn't beat most boards at all)

All of them are oc champs.

But in all honesty, there are simply not enough solid reviews atm for these boards. I do not know why, but i know the three overclocking sites i vist do not seem to like MSI.

I personally, feel if you want the best DFI is hard to beat, but they are more work than most. ATM gigabyte's GA-EX58-UD5 is clearly better out of the box and in overclocking than anything MSI has so... But I can't find amny asus ramp 2s or evga boards to compare so msi eclipse plus maybe the second best out of the box mebo atm.

This being said MSI does have very good out of the box preformence ... not good enough for me to say its the best.

Ill stick with where ever the warrenty and best or good oc is however.
